Class Unique Species Traits

Description
Class Unique Species Traits is a mod that adds unique traits to species groups that have not gotten much attention from DLCs.

This mod adds a current total of 4 traits across Avian, Reptiles, Mollusks and Arthropods.

Trait Descriptions

Pest Vermin: "This species has evolved into being incredibly short life cycles, making them extremely fast at breeding but extremely short lived."

Exoskeleton: "This species evolved an outer shell which replaces skin. Making them more resilient but less agile."

Cold Blooded: "This Species regulates its body temperature based on the environment, making them fragile to extreme environments but also making their metabolisms more efficient."

Hollow Bones: "This species has hollow bones which grants them the capability of flight, making them extremely agile in combat but also fragile, the freedom of flight is even seen in their psychology."

Worker pop resource output -30%
Specialist pop Resource output -30%
Ruler pop resource output -30%
Pop Housing Usage -50%
Leader Lifespan -50 years
Pop Growth Speed +50%


Exoskeleton:


Army health +30%
Army disengagement chance -70%
Orbital bombardment damage -30%


Cold Blooded:


Habitability -15%
Pop Food upkeep -20%


Hollow Bones:


Army damage +5%
Army health -20%
Defense army damage -10%
Army disengagement chance +30%
Governing ethics attraction -5%
Society Research from Jobs +10%


This is my first mod and it is quite small, i will add more traits in the future.

I wanna give this mod a try but seeing hollow bones being a "free trait" scares me. I know full well what the AI's going to do the moment it has access to gene tailoring and I still get nightmares of the time I had a mod that somehow made the "Elven" trait gene-moddable (but somehow non-removable).

Still, I like some of the balancing you've got going on. Cold-blooded especially looks great.

thanks for the comments about the game breaking bug, i haven't been able to update this mod since i applied for the recent modjam. I will try working on it in the upcoming days. Thanks for letting me know.

Yup I hate to be that guy, but I can sadly confirm what Cheesemongle said below and your mod is breaking pop food upkeep entirely, which is sad because I really like the flavour these traits add.

-20% food upkeep completely stops being an upside when any species without the Cold Blooded trait simply has zero food upkeep instead. Makes being cold blooded or a machine strictly a disadvantage. This absolutely breaks the game.

damn.... all these traits need to be shifted like 1 point over in cost to be cheaper or give more back for the shit they charge you to take. sometimes less is better Pat, sometimes less is better.

note: pop_categories dont use expandable definitions, youll have to overwrite an inline_script or the full pop_categories files with all of their vars and stuff to add your changes

species without the cold blooded trait have no upkeep (nor some other stuff)
(alternatively, use planet_pops_food_upkeep_mult)
