What Can I Customize
For this guide I well use the popular game "Five Nights at Freddy's" as how it's displayed in the steam Library deserves a upgrade and I have used it in a previous guide on how to change your desktop icon.

Now Here is what we can change.

  • Icons for your list of games you scroll through on the left
  • Hero banners for your game
  • The Logo that is on your Hero
  • Grid Banner for your game

How to Change The Icons
First what we need is the game's app ID, this is easy to find as it shows up in the link of the game's store page.

For FNAF its 319510, This is going to be important for later.

You can either create your own or find some you like from https://www.steamgriddb.com
When you find the Icon you want to use, save it or convert it into a .jpeg file, any other file type won't work. Now open Steam\appcache\librarycache
If your not sure where it is here is the path for it if your steam is saved to your C Drive
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache\librarycache

Put the app id in the search bar till you find the images for the game.

Here we want to remove the file that says icon and replace it with the other Jpeg image.
Rename the new image to this case 319510_icon of course using the correct app ID to whichever game your doing this too.

Now all you need to do is restart Steam by simply going up to "Steam" then "Exit"

Now as you open up your steam you should be able to see the new icon in your library.
Transparent Icons
Since .png files don't work you may be wondering how are you supposed to make transparent icons. Since the background for the list of games is not gradient and just one color this process is super easy.

If you are like me and don't have Photoshop, you can just use https://www.photopea.com.

1.) Click "File" then "Open" and browse for the .png file you want.

2.) Go down and right click the "Gradient Tool" and swap to the "Paint Bucket Tool"

3.) Now go down to the "Color Picker Tool" and put in "252930" as the RGB value and click "OK"

4.) Before we fill in the background, let's go up to "Layer" click "New" and go to the right and drag that below our image, Now fill in that layer. Sometimes your image may not fill in right and leave a bordered gap, this is how we work around that.

5.) Finally go "File" "Export as" and save it as a .jpeg, now your icon should appear transparent in the Library.
How to Change The Banner and Logo
This is the most easiest part that many steam users may have overlooked. If you go ahead and right click on the game's library banner you will have the option to edit the Banner and Logo.

You can use either a JPEG or PNG file for these
Here is how mine looks like now
How to change the Grid image
Similar to how we change the Banner and the Logo

Go down to "Manage" and then "Set custom artwork"

Fun fact you can have these be animated by following this guide.

Closing Notes
Thanks for following my guide, for awhile I wanted to edit my steam library and never gotten around to it and learn most of this from posts from Quora and Reddit, especially when it comes to changing the icon for the steam library. Also been wanting to make a steam guide but wanted it to be informative instead of silly so i compile all i learned here. Hope this guide was helpful.
