This addon contains several modifications to the LAAT/i gunship featured in Luna's default [LVS] - Star Wars addon to make it perform and handle similar to the AC-130 gunship. In summary, it is a flying clone wars tank that handles very similarly to an AC-130.


Lore (made up):
The Low Altitude Assault Tactical Gunship (LAAT/g) is a specially designed model in the LAAT line. Developed by Rothana Heavy Engineering by special request, this variant launched into service with only a few working units at first. The cost of making a single LAAT/g was almost triple that of a standard LAAT/i and as such, it was deployed sparingly throughout the Clone Wars. When it is in service, this heavy gunship provides close air support, air interdiction, and force protection for troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic. Typically, this gunship is sent in to support special operations/missions/activities but there are occasions where a LAAT/g is sent in to support conventional units.


Features:
  • General
    • Removed passenger seats.
    • Removed right side ball turret. The left ball turret is now on seat 3.
    • Added medium cannon (seat 4) to simulate the real life L/60 Bofors 40 mm cannon.
    • Added heavy cannon (seat 5) to simulate the real life M137 105 mm cannon.
    • Added sound effects and turret cameras for the new cannons.
    • Added FLIR/thermal vision options to the turret cameras for the new cannons.
    • Adjusted ship model to reflect new purpose (future updates MAYBE still inbound).
    • Modified most of the ship stat values to fly super slow. Pilots should be using these to circle an area while the gunners take out targets with the cannons.

  • Stats
    • Severely decreased maximum speed.
    • Decreased all turn rates.
    • Increased VTOL up and down thrust rates to get the gunship off the ground quick while not compromising forward speed.
    • Increased ship health to 7500 (from 4000).

  • Loadout
    • Increased primary proton torpedoes' rate of fire.
    • Decreased primary proton torpedoes' maximum amount.
    • Increased co-pilot back turret rate of fire.
    • Added flares to co-pilot seat loadout.
    • Added anti-personnel firing mode to left ball turret (to simulate real life 25mm cannon). Use for taking out players and NPCs. Very weak against vehicles. It fires for 2.5 seconds before cooling down for 2 seconds.
    • Adjusted left ball turret's laser behavior. It can now fire for 5 seconds straight before going on cooldown for 10 seconds. Use this like a precision tool to take out weaker ground vehicles.
    • Increased left ball turret's camera zoom (to simulate the real life 25mm cannon camera's zoom).
    • Added medium cannon. It fires 10 focused lasers with a 5 second cooldown and has significant splash damage. Ideal for taking out medium armored ground vehicles.
    • Added heavy cannon. Fires an experimental proton bomb with a 20 second cooldown time. Use this to take out heavily armored enemy vehicles and/or condensed enemy formations...or if you just want to send a message.


Detailed Specifications:
  • Ship Behavior/Stats
    • Maximum cruising speed of 25 km/h. This is 11.46% of the LAAT/i's speed.
    • VTOL thrust is 4 times stronger than the LAAT/i's. This allows the gunship to get airborne quickly while making sure the forward speed is still slow.
    • All turn rates are 0.3. This is 42.86% of the LAAT/i's turn rates.
    • Ship health has been increased to 7500. This is a significant increase of the LAAT/i's 4000 health.

  • Pilot's Loadout (Seat 1)
    • There are now only 20 proton torpedoes. This is 6 less than the LAAT/i's 26 proton torpedoes.
    • The proton torpedo rate of fire has been increased by 70% from the LAAT/i's rate of fire.

  • Co-Pilot's Loadout (Seat 2)
    • Decreased rear turret's spread by 33.33% from the LAAT/i's rear turret spread value.
    • Decreased rear turret's damage to 60. This is 5 less than the LAAT/i's rear turret damage of 65.
    • Removed the possibility of the rear turret from overheating. This allows for continuous fire.
    • Added flares to loadout options.

  • Ball Turret Gunner's Loadout (Seat 3)
    1. Added new "anti-personnel" cannon as the primary firing mode of the ball turret.
      • 10 damage per shot with an additional 50 splash damage in a radius of 200.
      • Has a splintering rate of fire that can shoot for 2.5 continuous seconds before overheating and cooling down for 2 seconds.
      • Each shot has a velocity of 15000 with a force of 100 and a hull size of 10.
      • Has a decent xy shot spread of 0.0125.
    2. The original laser is now the secondary weapon.
      • Fires for 3 seconds before overheating and cooling down for 10 seconds.
      • The new purpose for the laser is to chip away at weaker ground targets that need precise and focused damage in a particular spot.
    3. New FLIR/thermal vision is the third weapon (this is to simulate the real life AC-130's cameras).
      • Highlights players, NPCs, and LVS vehicles in a white glow.
      • Darkens the camera view to further contrast the highlighted objects.

  • Medium Cannon Gunner's Loadout (Seat 4)
    1. The medium cannon is the primary weapon, designed for taking out light and medium ground vehicles.
      • Each shot does 300 damage with 100 splash damage in a radius of 400.
      • Can fire 10 consecutive shots before overheating and cooling down for 5 seconds.
      • Each shot has a velocity of 10000 with a force of 30 and a hull size of 30.
      • Has a decent xy shot spread of 0.01.
      • I don't know the exact rate of fire but I matched it with that of the 40mm cannon from Call of Duty 4's AC-130 mission.
    2. New FLIR/thermal vision is the secondary weapon (this is to simulate the real life AC-130's cameras).
      • Highlights players, NPCs, and LVS vehicles in a white glow.
      • Darkens the camera view to further contrast the highlighted objects.

  • Heavy Cannon Gunner's Loadout (Seat 5)
    1. A single experimental proton bomb/projectile is fired before needing a reload/charging time of 20 seconds before the next shot.
      • The bomb/projectile has a damage value of 4000 and a radius value of 1000
    2. New FLIR/thermal vision is the secondary weapon (this is to simulate the real life AC-130's cameras).
      • Highlights players, NPCs, and LVS vehicles in a white glow.
      • Darkens the camera view to further contrast the highlighted objects.

@funky monkey TL/DR: You shouldn't be using this thing if you don't already have air superiority. It's meant to be slow because it's meant to be extremely vulnerable to other ships but nearly impossible to defend against for infantry and vehicles on the ground.

@funky monkey First off, not sure if you're using the ship right. It's not meant to be up in the air if there's enemy ships already up. And even if it is deployed in those poor conditions, you should have an escort fighter or two to protect the gunship. Also, the comparison to other ships' speeds is irrelevant because this ship isn't trying to be a fighter or a transport. It's a pure air-to-ground gunship. In terms of distance, make sure you're utilizing the VTOL up and down as that is the main way to cover distance on this ship (it also helps get up in the air quickly in general).

yeah but you just get spawn camped 90% of time, and it'd be fun to actually kill people if I could reach them from spawn, nearly impossible to get anybody on a big map. there's other planes much more op than this one like greedwitch's thunderbolt yet it can go around 150 km/h and more.

@funky monkey 100-120 kinda defeats the purpose of this ship specifically. If you want to have fun with high speeds there's other alternatives to this one. But again, this thing is supposed to be super slow to balance out the firepower it has as it can be near unstoppable with a full and experienced crew of 4-5.

right I get that but maybe just 100-120 km/h would be better. ik u wanna make it balanced but a ship going 20 km/h while others are going 250~300 km/h is just not fun to play with
