Intro
Personally i found the original difficulty to be fine, for those that want to try it heres a quick guide how to do it.

No external programs needed.

Your safe file will be kept, you can freely switch between the current and the old version using the same save file.
Quick walkthrough
Step1: Start Steam
Step2: On the Desktop open the console with Win + R
Step3: add

steam://open/console

and press enter
Step4: wait for "Console" to appear in your steam client next to Store Library Community
Step5: type in:

download_depot 1627720 1627721 6414528620246400900

Step6: press enter, the console now downloads the pre patch version from the games release, this might take a while, the download is finished when a message appears in the console segment
Step7: the folder should be downloaded to this location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content

Step8: Replace the downloaded filese with the ones from the game folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lies of P

Step9: Disable autoupdate for Lies of P (right click > properties > updates > Only update this game when i launch it)

Step10: Press play, in the menu screen it should say 1.1.2.0 instead of 1.2.0.0 in the bottom left corner

Note: Chances are high your folder names are the same, if you have installed steam somewhere else it might be different
You can check wether the download is progressing by checking the size of the folder, the final folder has roughly 40gb

no problem, thanks for adding your solution here so others can see it; have fun with the game!

I got it working, I just had to right click Lies of P and uncheck Overture in the DLC tab and delete my save data from Appdata/Common and then repeat the steps.

Thanks for the guide!

oh sorry i am not an expert in this kind of things; i assume it will not work unless you can install only the base game (i dopn´t know if its possible); it is still a good game even without downpatching

Is this still possible after Overture's release?

I followed the steps but I'm getting a UE4 crash on launching the game with some message about missing World Materials

Hmmm, I think I know what could be the reason - I never allowed my version to update, so I still have the old manifest. With new manifest steam is fooled that the version is actually upgraded.

thats weird for me it does not do that, it sjust starts the game (i also found that weird since it´s not what it says on the tile=
)
I disabled downloading during playing in the settings, maybe this prevents it from doing that?

"Only update this game when you launch it" - this does exactly what it's claiming - if you attempt to start the game while being online steam will update it, unless it's set to offline mode.

hey amene: If you right klick the game in your library select properties and under updates you select: "Only update this game when you launch it" it woll not update
For me it worked like this, i did all these steps and for 5 days in a row the game did never bother to update; hope it works with this for you

There probably should be step 9.5 such as: "go offline" and then start the game, otherwise it will autoupdate itself again. You can go online after starting it.
