Old Mine

Description
Back again, this time we have an old mine. This map was completely turned on its head, at first this was supposed to be a Water Treatment Remake. But I quickly scrapped that idea and thought the map looked more like an old mine. So I embraced the look of it, and built a mine area, although it is very small, the excuse is.. the workers were killed before they could dig any deeper. Even though this map is not what I had first envisioned, I do like the way it came out, and I hope you do as well.

Now as for the map details..

Map Description:
This old mine which was used for copper mining laid abandoned for years, until scanners picked up large deposits of Chalcanthite. A team was subsequently dispatched to investigate the mine and to begin usual mining procedures.

It seems things did not go according to plan, all the workers have been viciously attacked and mauled. The site is gruesome, the company has contracted us to deal with the aftermath.

The crate stacking area is small, so you gotta make sure you stack the crates properly, or you might not have enough room.

To get Num Incinerated items first clean the entire map, then save, then go here SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Viscera\Saves
the most recent save will be at the bottom of the list, if you create a new save that is.
next click on the save and open with notepad, then press Ctrl-F and search for "NumIncinerated"

Yeah, I eventually just started reusing the bins- it's not such a big map that it becomes a pain. I feel you on the kismet too lol, I gave up Unreal after looking at 4's blueprint system

I should add that the bin machine in this level will work on the first two uses. After that the machine will start having issues and it will spit out junk more often than not, you can still occasionally get a bin after the first two uses, but the better thing to do is just reuse your bins. In total you have about 4 bins I think. 2 found in the map, and the two you can get from the first two uses of the bin machine. Reuse them and you should have enough to clean the entire map. Also since there's quite a lot of trash, here's a tip I don't think many people are aware of, light a flare and drop it into a bin and it will destroy all the trash in it, like cups, chip bags, etc. I think you can get about 4 or 5 uses out of a bin before it will burn up in the incinerator.

Thanks, I did think about that as well. I probably could have messed around in Kismet to make someway to actually fix it. But I really had no idea where to even begin, back when I made this map I barely had any clue how Kismet worked, even nowadays I don't really know it that well. Using Kismet is basically just visual scripting, and unreal blueprints in ue4 and ue5 are an even more complex version of Kismet with more functionality though. It's really just a massive headache any time you're fooling around with Kismet.

Nice map! I like the heat wave effects, especially on the giant fan. I get the point of the faulty bin machine, but it could be cool if there was actually a way to fix it, like the note says.

There's enough bins found around the map for you to pretty much never have to use the bin machine. I did that intentionally, you're supposed to reuse your bins. Trash can be burnt using flares as well.

Doors are worth trying to open, that goes for any other map.

Anyways, this map is quite old at this point and I made it when I was still relatively new to map making. I don't even really like this map myself tbh. But I still learned from it, and that's all that matters.

Not a bad map, although it has a couple issues. Main being that bin machine- the fact that it only spat out a functional bin every one out of like 8 uses didn't really add much apart from delay and slight annoyance. Also did not immediately know there was an office and that that door opened until I needed the welder and realized I hadn't actually seen one yet.
Was going to comment on the aesthetics until I read you repurposed the map from a water treatment facility into a mine- it's definitely noticeable.

I appreciate the info, but I'm probably just gonna leave it as is. The invisible walls aren't much of a problem I feel, they aren't preventing you from accessing an area or anything. And when I played through the map I didn't have any issues with them. If it's a real game breaking bug then of course I will fix it, but with this it's just kinda pointless to update the whole map again for such a small issue.

Also I was hoping nobody would notice the gloves and brushes. Lol, I don't know why that happened. In the editor they appear normal.

I might fix these issues in the future, I also need to fix the Map Briefing, get rid of some Crates, cuz there's so many of them... etc. This map isn't perfect that's for sure, but I'm working on another project for now. When I finish that I'll probably come back and fix them.
