You want more challenges? Get this mod!

  • Angel of Trinity: select three challenges to play at once!
  • Angel from Ancient Time: fight the Harbinger directly with ancient stuff
  • Angel of Charon: you are sent to remove all traces of demonic activity. Indeed, you are a CRI soldier!

Thanks all for the feedback! Sorry it took some time to address it. I pushed a new version of the mods. Here is the changelog:
- Bullet Rain: the player cannot pick weapon without clip (Void, ancient gun, etc.) nor grenades/novabomb anymore. Due to the hacky way this mod works, I couldn’t fix the grenade issue.
- Darkness: "reveal the map" option in terminal is removed
- Charon: summoned CRI now follows between levels and "level clear" bug is fixed. Regen rate of Blaster is not fixed (it’s an engine issue) but the bug report has been forwarded to the lead dev. I didn’t change the starting HP: the CRI armor is here to help during the first moon.
- Carpentry: starts with more HP
- Kaboom: starts with a shotgun

In Bullet Rain, things which don't have a clip size "fire" an infinite number of times, dealing enough damage to instagib any enemy. The animation continues for a long time but damage is only done on that turn. The easiest thing to see this on are grenades, but it also works on the Ancient Gun (that gun instagibs anything in a straight line, effectively ignoring cover since even a 5% chance to hit will cause enough hits to kill anything). Infinite ammo guns should probably just be forbidden in that mode, but grenades may be worth fixing properly.

In Angel of Darkness, I think the map loss ought to still occur if you reveal the map from a terminal. Maybe reveal the map for one turn and then hide it again. Otherwise, you can bypass part of the challenge (at least half the time) by just having Hacker 1.

Nope, Try it.

On the first level the gun regens 2 energy per 'second' meaning that you can fire 6 shots in a row since the gun regens 2 energy every shot.

But once you leave the intro level it only regens 1 energy per second, meaning you can only fire 4 times in a row, then after one second you'd have enough energy to fire one more shot.

I assumed it was a balance change you made or a glitch as with the basic blaster on higher difficulties you could easily get out numbered with only 4 shots and such a slow regen. (20 full seconds to get just 4 shots!!)

In Angel of Charon, I use the basic blaster pistol without any modification. If you invest in Hellrunner / Dash to move faster, you may experience a lower ammo/move regen even with a constant ammo/second regen. Do you think that could explain what you saw?

For the Angel of Charon is it a glitch that the blaster pistol regens 2 ammo per second on the first level but then only 1 per second every other level?

I get it if it's a balancing thing but for the first floor you dont need 6 standing shots, its only later that you could get overwhelmed. On a recent run I had to switch to a minigun on the end of the first moon because the blaster just couldn't regen ammo fast enough to be safe to use.

The challenges I've tried so far are pretty fun, but rather sadistic. Carpentry and Charon's reduced HP is kinda ridiculous, I got one-shot from full health by the keycard robot in Valhalla Command. Kaboom starves you of guns way too hard at the beginning of the game, which is a bigger challenge than the actual explosions; consider making a couple random yellow guns spawn on level 1 or 2? No retreat seems absurdly hard, but it's like that on purpose. Ancient Times is a cool challenge albeit obviously a short one.

When playing Charon, I noticed that after summoning CRI sometimes it would give the "level clear" announcement when there were still a couple enemies left--specifically, the same number of enemies were left as the number of allies I'd summoned. Best guess is the allies increased the kill count without increasing the number of kills needed to "clear" the level.
