However, RPG Style Inventory successfully identifies them as pants and divides them into layers of clothing in the appropriate slots.
The only downside is that you need to have RPG Style Inventory in player mod list.

Is it possible to detect whether pants are being worn using the RPG Style Inventory mod?
This mod accurately detects and identifies clothing and armor worn by pawns in their slots.
As far as I understand, the logic behind it isn't layering, but rather the coverage of the pawn's body parts—the legs.
Therefore, if your mod can determine which RPG Style Inventory slot a given item is placed in, it will be able to identify it as pants regardless of paths and filters.
Priority should be determined logically—the fewer body parts covered, the higher the priority in display.
