Weymouth-Waterloo V2.2

Description
Latest Update:

23/06/16

I haven't worked on this in a while and had laid a bit of track 18 months ago or more which I feel would benefit people if they wanted to also help building.

Still needs lots of work. Branch North of Woking has 5-10km worth of track on it.

Quick Drive to Dorchester

More scenery added.

Track smoother (most not all).

Please leave comments of what needs to be fixed.

12/08/14

Tunnel made and more scenery added. Track laid to Dorchester but don't expect to see anything there. Even working flat out this stuff takes time. If you want a route that is instant, ready now, well go find one that is because this isn't. This is a work in progress.

You don't need the London-Faversham route for this to work. All or most of the stuff (except tunnels) are with the Oxford Paddington route and Dorset-Somerset.

UPDATE

11-08-2014

I managed to get quick drive working. Standard and Free roam scenarios as well. Third rail is not working and I think I know why so I will get these teething problems out the way.

I added a third rail in but it is not working either. I am wondering if that I am using Oxford Paddington Track Rule with third rail from the Kent HighSpeed route is the problem. I will test this theory.

Hopefully free roam works.

Weymouth to Waterloo

(Route Download at bottom)

This is a totally different version and different developer to the other Weymoth-Waterloo.

I subscribed to that one and was shocked when I saw the terrain was not as it should be in the real world.

So I thought I would make a start on a real world route (That is all I am doing) from Weymouth to Waterloo in Train Simulator.

Providing information to subscribers as to what they are getting.

Terrain as it appears in the real world.

Trees and buildings-scenery-placement as it appears in real world.

Accurate track placement as far as can be seen in google maps.

Willing to listen to feedback on the route.

My policy is to release Work In Progress (WIP) files as much as I can, unlike developers previously have dropped their projects with no release (even just to give to the community) and no one gets anything. So I will upload to Steam TS2014 workshop (TS2015 soon!) and post the file in a file sharing place like mediafire so everyone can download it and enjoy it.

Project Update:

Version 1.0

I have started at Weymouth and have made the first track just past Upwey. Scenery and terrain is all there. Still a few roads and scenery items to place.

I am using Oxford-Paddington DLC for this route and Bath-Templecombe.

I would like volunteers who have 3d Modelling experience or someone who wants to try it. My aim is to make this route as good as the best routes you can buy from DTG. I don't see why you should do it if you are going to be let down on quality.

My other aim is to have as few DLC content required to play the route. It is not fair on having many downloads required for one route. The best plan is to make it easy on people and make it friendly.

That is where you come in. I need feedback on everything, especially any problems with it. I am still getting used to route building but I have some experience now. I get the odd complaint at times that people can not use it in the sim after they subscribe on Steam. Please let me know if you had this problem and you resolved it, so others can know how! And me too!

Route information:

The route is the South Western Main Line of Great Britain and is 143 miles long.

It covers towns Woking, Southamton, Bournemouth, Dorchester to Weymouth.

OK. You can try program called Google Sketchup. There is a free version.

I have no experience of making 3d models (trains or buildings/assests). I enjoy taking photos, i am thinking of taking Photography for my A levels in 2015/16, i have a £150 camera which is quite good and dynamic.

I think your mate (Butter the merciful) wants to run 444s from Weymouth...... So it will be interesting to have the PDL route. Thanks for the info I have not explored Britain, I only been to EGLL airside in the terminals. I think I will get over there soon.
Do you plan on making 3d Models yourself of objects on the Weymouth-Waterloo route? You are into photos right?

I hope to get the DLC for those routes you have this week. I saw your article in engine driver-the diary. Well done. You really do nice track work and placement of the items. It is good to see someone else enjoy this as much as I do. Hope you can try out my Australia route sometime too.
Thanks for the tip, that is what I thought!

I think the electric Oxford - Paddington is what you need to use, rather than the Oxford - Paddington main. I'm using the PDL for the track as the PDL is run by SWT, and weymouht- Waterloo is ran by SWT too so the same style track is there from the PDL that when they meet at Woking, it would be the same coulor ground.

Thanks Alex! I already tried that but I use the Oxf-Padd Track Rule. Maybe I need to use the electric Oxf-Padd TR.
The Kent High Speed one works.

Hi dan, i found that when i was laying down 3rd rail that on my version you had to change the electricity when you set the speed limits and directional flow of the track, usually [unchanged], None, 3rd rail or 4th rail.
