An alternate version of the campaign with L4D2 Survivors is available here.




City of the Dead Redux is a remake of City of the Dead originally released back in 2016, from the ground up. It incorporates the same general ideas of the original, while improving upon them.

The Survivors must make their way through an abandoned city and end up in a mall, eager to escape they climb to the rooftop for a potential evacuation.

The rooftop finale from the original City of the Dead is available in this as a bonus Survival map.

This is the perfect example of fan content rivaling the source material. CoTD: Redux follows common principles found in great fan content: 1) it follows the anti-bad filler rule of being self-contained enough as to not alter the canonical timeline while still feeling important by filling in the pieces of an up-to-interpretation aspect of the story 2) It brings back the claustrophobic horror of L4D1. The campaign brilliantly uses tight corridors, horde infested man holes, walkways, clinical staircases and general uneasiness. The only thing Ill allude to that falls under light spoiler territory is what the creator did with a certain special infected in a very early chapter (wont tell you which), that left me feeling it disturbed, grind-housey, and vile but I say this as a positive, Great art makes you feel a variety of emotions and for this custom campaign to have had me feel all of that is great credit to the creator, awesome stuff. 3) Its fun. Easily a new favorite.
