China Leader: Liu Yu, the Wu Emperor of Song

Liu Yu is a visionary strategist who relies heavily on powerful Bei Fu Bing. Benefiting from the movement bonus of Bei Fu Bing near the river and Liu Yu's unquestionable military talent, his troops will become a sharp sword that can be inserted into the enemy's chest. The traits of the China enable him to attack and defend well, both in terms of military ability and in terms of his unparalleled talent as a politician and reformer. Whether pursuing victory of conquest or technology, Liu Yu is a trustworthy leader.

Leader Ability

Expedition Towards the North: Gets +1 Military Slot. Units gain +3 Combat Strength in enemy's terrority. Combat victories provide Science equal to 30% of the Combat Strength of the defeated unit. (on Standard Speed) Gains +1 Governor Title the first time Liu Yu triggers an Inspiration.

Unique Unit

Bei Fu Bing: Liu Yu's unique Classical era anti-cavalry unit, +2 Movement if it begins a turn adjacent to a river. Can [Inspire] your units within 2 tiles, making them get +2 Movement and Sight in 3 turns. Each UU can only use this skill once.

Compassionate Emperor: Liu Yu likes civilizations with high incomes and a large population, he hates civilizations with low incomes.

Liu Yu's capital is Jiankang, i add Jingkou (where he wa born) and Pengcheng (where his ancestors once lived) for him.

Language

Liu Yu was born in Jingkou(now its name is Zhenjiang). He was poor since childhood, and later joined the Bei Fu Army. From 399 AD, he suppressed the Sun En uprising, eliminated Huan Chu, Western Shu, Lu Xun, Liu Yi, Sima Xiuzhi and other separatist and rebel forces, resulting in a situation of unification in the south that had not been seen in a century. When it comes to foriegn affairs, he conquered the Southern Yan, Later Qin and other states, making Qiu Chi submitted to Jin dynasty. Then he defeated the Northern Wei by using the Que Yue Formation, recovering Huaibei, Shandong, Henan, and Guanzhong. Futhermore, he recaptured the Luoyang and Chang'an, the two capitals of China. Because of his great achievements, he was able to take over the military and political power of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and granted Xiangguo and Yangzhou Mu. Finally, he was crowned King of Song.
In 420, Liu Yu became the emperor in his capital Jiankang under the state name "Song". During his reign, he drew lessons from the tyranny of the aristocratic families of the previous dynasty, strengthened centralization of power, suppressed mergers, compiled household register, reorganized the administration of officials, placed high value on the poor, revitalized education, and sent envoys to visit the suffering of the people many times, enacted light corvee and light taxes, abolished harsh laws, improved social conditions, ended the era of patriarchal dictatorship. He made significant contributions to the economic development of Jiangnan and the protection and promotion of Han culture, and initiated the largest territory in the Southern Dynasty, laying a solid foundation for the "Yuanjia's Rule".
In 422, Liu Yu planned to begin his north expedition towards the Northern Wei Dynasty, but before beginning his plan, he died of illness at the age of 60. The temple was named Gaozu and the posthumous title was Emperor Wu. He was buried in the Chuning Tomb. He is the author of a volume of "A Brief Introduction to the Art of War" which has now been lost.
Liu Yu is mostly remembered as one of greatest generals of the Northern and Southern dynasties. Under him, the Southern Chinese empire came the closest to reconquering the North. Although the territory which he won in the Northwest was quickly lost, his campaigns allowed the Southern dynasties the advantage of defending along the Yellow River, and preserved an independent Southern Chinese state long enough for the Xianbei states in the North to be assimilated.
