Gm EK Overgrowth

Description
[Sandbox] EK. Overgrowth:

Overgrowth is a scenic exploration map which takes place in the courtyards and tunnels of an unknown now-abandoned facility. Most of the crumbing ruins have been overtaken by plants - while a local hive of antlions is beginning its incursion into the concrete tunnels from below. The structure's exact purpose is unknown, but it seems to have been used for some kind of military logistics. Stranger yet, there are some signs of more recent habitation...
  • Small bunker corridors, secret passages, and broken-open walls allow traversal through the map.

  • A flashlight may be needed in some of the deeper tunnels.

  • Basic 3D skybox

Might attempt to add nodes if I feel like pain.
Alot of areas are disjointed and require crouching & jumping though so I don't think it'd even work.

I didn't really have a specific idea in mind for the map, and this was before the 'liminal space' fad caught on. It's pretty much just an atmospheric space to explore with bits of environmental storytelling and a mix of real & fantastical architecture.

You could probably use this with the LIDAR gamemode too, I did during some testing when I was bored. As a bonus to make the map more easily navigable you can delete all the doors by going into console and typing:
ent_fire MapDoors kill

I originally started this map ~6 years ago but sort of abandoned it for a long while. I came back to work on it a few times intermittently since then & only now I've gotten it to a state I'm proud of. Also I was running into some compiling issues so I've fixed those up & I'm not able to expand the map any further - this is why some areas of the map lead to dead-ends & closed gates. All going well - this should be my last map that needs game content, as my next map projects will have custom content embedded.

The leaking water particle-effect won't play if you don't have HL2 EP2,
but other than that no game content should be required.

can you make a non destroyed/overgrown version of this map with big doors. i know mapmaking isnt easy and takes a long time so this request may be too demanding (if it is sorry) and in the likely possibility that you decline, still have a great day. love your maps (p.s i love big doors

Hey man, great map, really love the prop-work.

Couple of issues I noticed:
- some materials, decals, and props are from CSS, so that's also needed.
- all of your lightmaps are at luxel 4, this will bloat the filesize by about 150 mb, and break HDR;
if you disable the editor objects in Hammer++ you can just select the whole map and put them back to the default 16 from the face edit sheet, after a recompile you'll win 150 mb and fix the HDR thus making this also SFM compatible.
