Spider Miner

Mining HVs don't tend to be overly popular these days, but they still have their uses. Unfortunately the standard builds where you attach mechanical or laser drills to the front and dive into the ground don't seem to behave very well at all. So I got to wondering if it was feasible to make a miner that used a drill turret instead. As it turns out, this is just as effective a tool as using CV drills on asteroids. I didn't want to just have ore mining though so this can also fell the annoying trees that are likely already in your way too. There's also plenty of cargo capacity and medical coverage for extended missions into possibly dangerous areas.

It should be pretty easy to drill out a deposit in no time, and the wide stance of the hover engine pods should also prevent you from falling into your own hole. I had initially planned for 8 pods but that became an ugly mess, and you'd get stuck on all the big rocks and trees. Though by the time I cut it to 4 the name "Spider" had stuck.

Installation Requirements

Empyrion - Galactic Survival version 1.8 (Build 3842) or higher.

Compatibility

This blueprint has only been tested with Empyrion 1.8 (Build 3842). It likely will not work on versions older than 1.8.
