Davenport Trench Locomotive - Blue

During the First World War, 2 ft trench railways were developed to both be laid quickly and to move a large amount of material and troops through war-torn territory. The Davenport 2-6-2 trench locomotive was designed as an upgrade to the Baldwin 2-6-2 trench locomotives that were shipped over in 1917 for service on the Western Front. However, the Armistice was signed before most of the locomotives were built. Instead they found use on light railways on United States military bases until the 1940's, when they were all either sold as surplus or scrapped. This is a model of the only functioning locomotive which is now run by the Norgrove Railway in Arroyo Grande, California.

This model is paired with two 1 rail cars that were shipped to France during World War 1. (The locomotive itself was 2ft gauge, but this model is standard gauge)
