Flunjinkigorgle

Description

Flunjinkigorgle

This ridiculously huge (180x94) map was initially conceived on 23rd May 2019, it was intended to be the first in a three-part series of maps collectively representing a fictional world, with this depicting the northern hemisphere (known by its natives as ‘Flunjinkigorgle’). It was to be followed by a desert landmass map representing the world’s equator and a third map depicting the southern hemisphere.

This map was co-created with my friend who drew concepts for the landmasses (see below) and came up with most of their ludicrous names.

Check out their art: https://www.instagram.com/soft.sod/

Upon finalisation of the map on the 25th I decided to develop an outline of Flunjinkigorgle’s lore including: a basic timeline, the origin of man, dual deities, a secondary language and more. I then decided to write more detailed lore for each land, starting with Bissybimgoo. I wrote about 1.3k words on Biss Biss, the Bissers civilization and their early leaders before I gave up, conceding that it was a needlessly massive undertaking for something that started out as a bit of a joke. Thinking that I might return to the project at a future date, I officially tapped out 7th July 2019.

But before doing so I had created two maps. The first labels the names of every island, the second labels the names of every water formation (however I never finished it so many names are missing, specifically the bays). I intended to make more maps labelling rivers, mountain ranges and unofficial names of areas.

Today (14th July 2022) I rediscovered the folder containing my work on Flunjinkigorgle and decided it was a waste not to upload it, even in its unfinished state. I’m especially fond of the western island (Chreggnogg), and have considered recreating this, if not the whole map, in Civilization VI someday. However, I cannot testify to its adequacy as a playable map, I tried to evenly distribute natural wonders and randomised resources and goodies. Due to its size I'd play with 12+ civilizations (you could easily play maxed) and at marathon length for immersions sake, but that's probably just me.

There are two ways to play this map after subscribing
Option 1:
  1. Go to C:\Users\User\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Flunjinkigorgle (v 1)
  2. Copy the file Flunjinkigorgle.Civ5Map
  3. Paste the file into C:\Users\User\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps
  4. Start the game > select SINGLE PLAYER > SET UP GAME > Map Type > Scroll down to Additional Maps and select it > Scroll down to Flunjinkigorgle and select it
Option 2:
  1. Start the game
  2. Select MODS > Accept
  3. Enable the tick box on Flunjinkigorgle (v. 1) > select Flunjinkigorgle (v. 1) > NEXT > SINGLE PLAYER > SET UP GAME > Map Type > Scroll down to Additional Maps and select it > Scroll down to Flunjinkigorgle and select it

I’m not expecting many to subscribe or even read this (and the Steam library barely shows workshop thumbnails anymore), but if you do, I hope you enjoy it!

@Zafeiri
Not sure if I can help you. I'd recommend unsubscribing, restarting, then resubscribing. Then (if on Windows) checking "C:\Users\User\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS" for the folder "Flunjinkigorgle (v 1)". If found, you should be able to follow 'Option 1' from the description above for installation. If not, then you could delete the cache folder found at "C:\Users\User\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache". However, this will force the game to redownload all currently subscribed mods.

I like your map very much mate, i appreciate all the time you've spent into it. I myself, tried to design a few maps, and it is insanely diffuclt depending on what you want to do exactly.

I loved this map. Is there any way for you to attach the lore to the mod??
