Inheritable Relations

Description
Updated for 1.13.*.*

aka "Unfinished Business"...
*Though the "Business" is "Unfinished", the mod itself is in fact Finished.

Saddened by your best friend's indifference towards your heir?
This mod enables the possibility of an heir to inherit their predecessors' relations when the time comes.
Now taking a crown comes with its unique diplomatic benefits and challenges, depending on the previous holder's relations and how close you two are related.

🩸 Cross-Generational Friends & Rivals
A character's friend will be marked as a potential friend of your heir after succession, along with a +30 opinion boost.
They would be much more likely to become friends assuming they don't have a particularly bad relationship prior to the succession.
While certainly not guaranteed, with some effort and luck, one could maintain friendships between two lineages for several generations.
The same goes for the predecessor's rivals (Marked as potential rivals with a -30 opinion penalty)

Note: only the primary heir of a character will inherit their relations. A character can only get their relations inherited once per lifetime. However, one could inherit the relations of multiple predecessors.
All opinion modifier, positive or negative, lasts for 10 years (values decays over time)

🤝🏼 Life-Long Relations have Larger Impacts
Best friends and nemesis are much rarer than their ordinary counterparts (In vanilla, Less than 5% of friends will later become best friends). Thus, it is only fair for the characters involved to value these special relations more.
A character's Best Friend will become the friend of their heir after succession, provided they don't have a particularly bad prior relationship (E.g. rivalry or opinions lower than -30).
If they cannot become friends because their opinions of each other are too low, they will become potential friends instead. (Along with a mutual +60 opinion boost to help them get along)
The same logic is also applied to nemesis, just the negative version.

*Only adult heirs can directly inherit friendships (become friends on succession) to simulate child heirs' lack of exposure to the relations of their predecessors
*Direct inheritance of friendship can be turned off in Game Rules if you feel it's not balanced due to Ritualized Friendship tradition.

🔗 Tiered Inheritance Rules based on Predecessor-Heir relation
Not all heirs are judged equally. The rules stated above only apply to those who are perceived to be closely-related to their predecessors.

-Closely-Related: A character's non-rival Close Families, Spouses, Best Friends and Soulmates are considered to be closely-related to that character. In addition, their heir's opinion of them also needs to be greater than -30 for them to be willing to take up the mantle.

-Loosely-Related: An heir would be considered as loosely-related to their predecessor if they are of the same dynasty or are extended families to each other. Those who would otherwise be considered closely-related but don't like their predecessor enough would also fall into this tier.
Loosely-related heirs are not favored/judged to the same extent. They would get +10 and +20 opinion of their predecessor's friends and best friends respectively. Same logic for rivals and nemesis.

-Unrelated: Those don't fit into the previous two tiers are viewed as unrelated to their predecessors. Their predecessor's relations will not have an effect on them.

🎭 Exceptions due to Personality Traits
Nemesis and Rivals with forgiving trait will not become rival or be marked as potential rival on succession. However, relevant opinion penalties still apply.

This mod is best used with Social Relations Expanded.

Any similar options? It just doesn't make sense that the original version didn't include this feature.

Hi,
just to say that in the french translation, the localization file "ub_opinions_l_french.yml" starts with: "l_english;" (i think it should be "l_english:" as in other mods and other files in your mod) and by consequence, isnt taken into account in game, resulting in raw code strings being displayed rather than comprehsive text.

Yes but I don't know if the random name changes are affecting my checksum and interfering with multiplayer.

You can make it so that the load order doesn't load alphabetically

The name of this mod keeps changing between "Inheritable Relations" and "Unfinished Business" in the playset listing, and it is causing load order issues (because it keeps changing it's place when sortted alphabetically).
