Psycast Upgrades adds several upgrades for existing vanilla psycasts. Psycasts are unlocked via the 'Psychic Reshaper' building, which is unlocked by the 'Psychic Reshaping' technology. Each vanilla psycast gets 5 upgrades of increasing power and expensiveness.

To upgrade a Psycast, you will have to put them inside the Psychic Reshaper like a cryptosleep pod, supply the pod with 2000W of power, and fuel the pod with Psycast Neurotrainers. Then, select the pod and select the 'Upgrade Psycast' option to be provided with a list of Psycasts you can upgrade. Select your desired upgrade, wait a little while for the upgrade to complete. The Psychic Reshaper will automatically eject its user when upgrading is complete.

If an upgrade is interrupted in some way, either by power being lost, the pod being destroyed, or the pod performing an eject/being opened, a temporary Neural Shock hediff will be applied to the upgrade target, which will reduce consciousness for up to a day at the worst. Around half of the Neurotrainers used in the upgrading process will be refunded, with the rest lost forever.

Each upgrade level requires its own research; Upgrade 1 (Level 2) requires the first research, Upgrade 5 (Level 6 / Omega) requires the fifth.

Generally, for each level, the Neural Heat generation, Psyfocus cost, casting time, and any negative effects on the caster are reduced. Casting range, strength of desired effects, and duration of effects is increased.

Level 2 provides a +25% to positive effects, and -10% to negative effects. Costs 1 Neurotrainer.
Level 3 provides a +50% to positive effects, and -15% to negative effects. Costs 2 Neurotrainers.
Level 4 provides a +75% to positive effects, and -20% to negative effects. Costs 4 Neurotrainers.
Level 5 provides a +100% to positive effects, and -25% to negative effects. Costs 7 Neurotrainers.
Level 6 provides a +200% to positive effects, and -50% to negative effects. Cost 10 Neurotrainers.

I really like this mod, and the potential that it has. I'm currently holding out for Vanilla Expanded Psycast to come out before building a complete Psycast modlist, and I can't wait to see if this will fit in with that. Mostly because I love Rimworld of Magic, but that mod unfortunately is so heavy on performance that I'm looking for alternatives and this would be perfect to fill that void.

My best guess with that error that it's related to some sort of mod conflict somewhere.

That bug was fixed earlier today. I can confirm that Choice of Psycasts still allows upgrade-only psycasts to be selected.

I was incorrect, actually. Choice of Psycasts has nothing to do with it. Even without that mod, when a pawn learns a new random psycast from leveling up their psylink ( either from the tree or the empire ) ALL of the upgraded psycasts are included in the pool of random psycasts that can be obtained.

Don't know how to fix that, especially since I commissioned the code for the upgrade system.

When combined with the mod 'Choice of Psycasts' which lets you pick which cast you want to take when you learn one rather than randomly assigning one, every single Psycast upgrade added to this mod appears in the list you can choose from. I'm not sure how this could be remedied, but my first thought was to make the upgraded psycasts a level that normally can't be attained, such as 7 or 8. Great mod though, loving it so far! I've been REALLY wanting an upgraded version of waterskip haha

Would you list out some of these upgrades either in text or in an additional screenshot showing them? It would be helpful to understand how your upgrade systems work w/o having to download to and test. Appreciated in advance as this is a very neat concept!
