Mage Chess

Description
In Mage Chess, we introduce two new ideas, Mana and Mages. Mages replace your typical Bishop on the board. Mages move as if they are kings (one square), however they are able to attack as Bishops would (Diagonally). Mana is gained per capture of your opponent's piece, how much is gained varies depending on what is captured. 1 mana is gained by the player if they capture a pawn, 2 mana is gained per capture of a Rook or knight, 3 mana is gained for the capture of a mage and queen. Mana IS NOT gained for any captures done with a mage. Mages can kill adjacent pieces without using mana. Mages are able to put the king in check at a distance if they have mana available.

Rules for our Mod:

Mana System:
Mage Chess has 6 different pieces in the game that all have different moves that they can make. Each piece is classed by a point system so when that piece is killed, the opposition player is rewarded with “Mana” which can be used on the “Mage” character (See “Mage” and for more information). Each player is capped at 4 mana

Refer to the mana table in the preview images section, for details on mana rewards

Mage:
The Mage is the modified piece that was implemented to create Mage Chess. It replaces the Bishop from the original game. The Mage can do quite a few unique things and brings “Mana” into the game as a type of currency for its attacks.

The Mage’s moves are:
It can move any direction 1 space away from it
It can attack any direction 1 space from it
It can do a fireball attack, which lets it attack diagonally from any range without having to move to the position it killed it’s enemy. This makes it easy for it to pick off enemies without taking any risk. However, it costs 2 mana to do the fireball attack.

If the Mage moves into a position where it has enough mana to fireball the King, it can be considered a check or a Checkmate. However, if the Mage has no mana available, it cannot Check or checkmate the king with its fireball attack.
The Mage is unable to gain mana if it kills an enemy with its fireball attack.
