Description
Setting Up Mars

Background:
Since MARS is a favorite of many, I wanted to open up the save file to the public and allow anyone to build in the city in order to help finish where I left off. However, since I haven’t played in the MARS save since March 2021, there have been some Mod related updates that have affected the save - some good and some bad. The good news is that loading time fix mods have come out that have reduced the loading time from 50+ min to less than 10 on my PC.

The bad news is there are simulation issues (i think?) since i'm forced to use old mods like prop anarchy and EML. From my experiments, the save will load in about 5-10min, but then the spacebar doesn't do anything for an additional 20-30min. After a while, eventually things work and you can run the simulation and build stuff.

The other issue is that I now have to use the new mod Advanced Building Level Control, which means that in order to prevent buildings from disappearing, you'll need to make a district around the whole city and set it to historic before unpausing the game.

Loading the Save:
First, unsubscribe from all mods and assets that you may currently be subscribed to. Next go to the MARS Collection and subscribe to all.

You’ll also need to subscribe to the new MARS Dome asset by Duhya individually.

You'll also maybe want my Local RICO settings file[drive.google.com] so that half the city doesn't move out when you unpause. Put the file here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines

Before you load the save, go to the content manager and disable (but do not unsubscribe!) from the mod called: Ploppable Aslphalt+ by Ronyx69. When you get into the save, there will be an error or two about the Beefeater sign - just smash enter and ignore those. You then may experience the issue described above where the simulation doesn’t run for a while before suddenly everything works. Idk what the deal is, but just give it a 20-30 minutes if it seems like it’s not working. Before unpausing the game, make a district around the whole city and set it to historic to prevent buildings from disappearing.

I’d definitely also suggest turning the speed slider down to 30%, turning the render settings for Procedural Objects down pretty low, as well as the LOD distance settings for the Ultimate Level of Detail Mod (I like to go way lower than the game defaults, helps with FPS a lot). There’s also a number of other settings that are mentioned in the description of the MARS Collection that should be followed as well once in game.

If you want the visual settings to look similar to how I have them, make sure to use the MARS theme. Here's my relight settings as well[drive.google.com]. This file goes here:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\ModConfig\RelightPresets

Sharing your Work:
As you build, keep in mind that if you want your district or building or whatever you make to end up in the official city, you will need to do a PO+MoveIt export XML file. This is done by selecting everything you’ve created (and nothing else) with Move-It and creating an export. It’s important that you select ONLY what you’ve built because otherwise on my end, when I try and import the file, it will create duplicates of things which are already there.

When you’ve created your export, share it along with screenshots of what you’ve done on the Citywokcitywall Discord server[invite.gg]. Make sure to include any instructions for how import and set up your export in my save. For example, if there are any networks like roads or cable car lines that need to be connected to pre-existing networks, make sure to point that out.

@mimifelix please take care to read the description. The missing assets are intended (it’s just props I chose not to subscribe to that are meant to come with buildings). The simulation should also unfreeze if you wait 20-30 minutes, it’s an issue with the old mods that were used to make this city, but should work itself out with enough patience

Hello talented builder,
things are wrong there.
Firstly,it seems 121 assets are missing.
Secondly, i can't place anything... (not even a road or a building, NO-THING)
Thirdly, it seems that the time has frozen. I cannot run the sim or set the time to the day, i can only watch and not do anything.
That's it for the problem
