Description

A Starship replica with automatic booster landing.
⨴ The vehicle is aerodynamically unstable, so it will require constant attention.
⨴ It is also quite fragile, so throwing it around will turn it into confetti.
⨴ The booster is equipped with a landing computer. Once you hit the stage button, it should take care of itself, leaving you free to fly the ship.

With both multi-mode flap control and much better aerodynamics than its predecessor, reentry at speeds up to 2000m/s with the Air Density Mod is trivial.
  1. Press [4] to set the ship into reentry configuration.
  2. Pitch the nose up 45 degrees from horizontal.
  3. During reentry, do your level best to keep the nose pointing upwards and away from the ground. If the noise points towards the ground at high speed, you are going to have a bad day.
  4. Once you hit 500 metres altitude (ideally you should be in a slow fall) press [5] to set the ship into landing configuration, flip to vertical, and land. You've probably seen it been done, so you should know how it works.

SpaceX's Starship spacecraft and Super Heavy rocket (collectively referred to as Starship) represent a fully reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond.

Starship will be the most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, with the ability to carry in excess of 100 metric tonnes to Earth orbit in a fully reusable configuration. Drawing on an extensive history of launch vehicle and engine development programs, SpaceX has been rapidly iterating on the design of Starship with orbital flight targeted for April 2023.
There has been no presentation since 2019 - instead, 16 Starship prototypes and 3 Super Heavy prototypes have been built out and tested (with varying levels of explosiveness).

The changes from the mk.1 (2019 version) Starship include legs inside the fairing and different flap geometries.
The changes to the Super Heavy are more drastic - gridfins have been moved to 60d/120d spacing (from a 45d spacing) and are now permanently fixed open, legs have been re-removed and replaced with a catching tower next to the launch pad, and engine count has changed to 29 (with 33 planned for later versions).

Starship was also selected as the lunar lander for the Artemis moon program in April 2021. This was a decision that ruffled a lot of feathers and put a lot of egg on a lot of faces, and inevitably led to lengthy lawsuits challenging the decision. The last of these was struck down in November 2021.

Finally, we have a real Starship to make a replica of.

This is my definitive version of Starship, which uses build surfaces for the hull and structure, and which was started basically the second build surfaces were released.
It was hoped that the nature of build surfaces would allow for a greatly reduced block count, which - while possible - didn't actually happen partially because of misunderstandings on how the surfaces actually worked and partially because I decided to emulate the ringed structure of the real Starship for both aesthetic purposes and to ensure accurate dimensions.

This features the third version of my landing computer, which uses anglometer PWM and auto-return-based deriviative control. It is vastly superior to what it replaced.
It also features a new multi-mode flap control system, which debuted on the Eisvogel. Using the power of automation, the flaps can be moved to three different static positions with the press of a button and have RTC control with only one set of hinges on the ship. This is great for structural strength, stability, and my mental health.

not even spacex knows how the cargo doors are going to work right now

do you at least know how the cargo doors are gonna work?

To be accurate, make sure to detonate on landing attempt (if it makes it that far, considering it'll burn up)
