I'm aware of the disadvantages of SG railguns, they do however, in my eye, triumph over the LG ones. For the record I did try to build the 60LG railgun variant you've mentioned, and it ended up being over 20 blocks wide, even when compacted into 2 rings (check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQLnbwW-wS4) . Besides the size, the damage output is also greater, if you consider the fire rate. The 600m range decrease and projectile velocity don't seem that impactful to me. Also LG railgun use considerably more power.
