Description
Obstruction | Part 1

I originally created this puzzle for a workshop collab, which was recently delayed to some time in the distant future. Since I don't want the work I put in so far to be lost, I decided to turn this into a micro-series which will, for now, have two parts. This is part one, the easier one, which was created after part two, as a way to tutorialise its concepts.

Easy difficulty. (1.5 / 10)

About 5 minutes to complete for average players.

This puzzle is a smaller proof of concept more than anything else, I might update it later on if I manage to expand on it further.
The main elements used in this puzzle are a laser and a weighted cube.

This puzzle doesn't require any glitches, ninja moves or similar things to solve it, just an understanding of Portal 2's mechanics and some creativity. If you're doing something that feels weird or unintended, it probably is exactly that.

Special thanks to:

Konclan for the custom light strip BEE2 package!
Frosti, Lassi, triORBIT and Ashikaga for playtesting and advice!

I never even looked up once to be honest. I just walked backwards while blocking the laser and never considered there would be an alternative solution. Very nice puzzle, which has hopefully prepared me for Part 2

Nice little easy start, yet quite entertaining. I guess it's more natural to walk backwards blocking a laser than just looking up ^^

looks up
feels silly

@Reika It's not really intended, but also barely skips anything important which is why I didn't do anything to prevent it. You can just use the ceiling portal surface instead for the same outcome.

Is walking while holding the cube blocking the laser intended? It seems an obvious solution step, but it also seems very much in the category of, as you put it, "feels weird or unintended".

Nice little puzzle with an equally nice theme. I'll play Part 2 right away!

The entire time I was going "ohh" and "ah-ha!" Very well designed chamber.

Nice puzzle - good example of cube preservation
