Costume Restoration Mod

Several years late to the Vesperia party, and genuinely surprised no one had done this yet. This mod restores seven costumes that ended up unused in the final product, by linking them to existing titles...without overwriting other costumes!

The costumes are attached to the following titles:
  • Treasure Hunter (Yuri's "Certified Soldier" alt)
  • Legendary Swordsman (Yuri's "True Knight" alt)
  • Berserker (Yuri's "Improvisionist" alt)
  • Noble Princess (Estelle's "Mysterious Maiden")
  • Master Mage (Rita's "Researcher for Life")
  • Genius Mage (Rita's "Researcher for Life" alt)
  • Emperor of the Night (Flynn's towel)

How to Install
  • 1) Click this link[drive.google.com] and download "menu.svo" and "string_dic_ENG.so"
  • 2) Navigate to your games local files.
    • Navigate to Tales of Vesperia in your library
    • Right click on the name
    • Click "Properties"
    • In the window that pops up, click "Local Files"
    • Click "Browse"
  • 3) Navigate into the "Data64" Folder
  • 4) Replace "menu.svo" in the folder with the "menu.svo" you just downloaded. (NOTE: It might be a good idea to make a backup of the original)
  • 5) In that same folder, there is another folder called "languages". Replace the "string_dic_ENG.so" file in there with the one in the download. (NOTE: Like with the above, make a backup!)

Load the game and you're done!

Happy playing!

Reinstalling the mod should also fix that.

@wawawiwa: You can still salvage your save file. You need use a Hex Editor. I have listed the necessary steps in my own DLC guide how to bypass that DLC error:

you should add warning that you can't load your save file if you don't have the mod installed anymore. spend 2 days trying to figure out why i can't load my old save file, then remembered using this mod years ago :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for rearranging which titles unlock costumes (especially the Improvisionist alt. which should be harder to unlock than it previously was) and adding the icons to them.
I tried doing it myself a while ago without much success.

Specificly the Sergeant Keroro victory lines with Karol and Patty as those reference their Japanese voice actors also voicing characters in that anime.

@Laëtis89 Great, thanks! Only thing "missing" from this version now is subtitles for the Sergeant Keroro victory lines, though I can't think of any way to reliably test that, plus no idea where that text would go and in-game it's blank, at least in English.

@SinForged It is done. I also figured out the Costume icon on the titles so thats there too.

Only thing I changed was that I put Imporvisionist on the Berserker Title. The towel had to be implmented though DLC so i felt this was more fitting.

Oh, thats a good idea actually.

Just tested something and I don't think I can add the costume icon to each title like they did (My attempt didn't cause the game to crash but all non-DLC titles had their names completely broken)

But I can probably do that. I just need a save file with all the titles because I don;t know where mine went lol

@Laëtis89 Ah, makes sense. I've been trying to attach the costumes to the same titles as the ps3 fantranslation did and add the costume icon like Make mentioned, but I have no idea how to tell which title is which in the hex editor. Would it be possible to make a version with the costumes attached to the same titles? It's in the link Make posted btw.

@SinForged

You'd have to find a way to extract the models from the main game files (Or the PS3 version, per the other costumes). Sadly, thats more effort than it's worth.

Besides that, if I remember, Yuri doesn't have enough DLC slots for this, since each character only gets 9.
