Description
In v2.14, support for Titled Literature (e.g. Books and Magazines) has been added. However, please note that these items, will be marked as "Already Read" they are read after enabling the mod or updating it. The icon display for these items can be turned off from the options.

Overview :
Add the unread mark on the book's icon that has not been read or has been read only halfway.
Confirmed to work with Build 41/42 and also work on MP.

Features :
  • Books that have not been read will display the original icon with "?". This includes skill books that are no longer needed at current level.
  • Books that have been read only halfway will display the original icon with "!".
  • Books that have been read completly will display the original icon only.
  • You can mark a book. For example, you can check to see if you got it or not. Marking can be done from the context menu of the target item.

Options :
These options are available with Mod Options in B41.
  • Show "Not Read" mark (?) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Not Completed" mark (!) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Already Read" mark (v) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Not Completed" mark as "Not Read" mark (! -> ?) : Can specify whether to change the display or not.
  • Show "Self Marking" mark (/) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Current Target" mark (o) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show mark on Map : Can specify whether to show on Map.
  • Show mark on Flier : Can specify whether to show on Flier.
  • Show mark on Brochure : Can specify whether to show on Brochure.
  • Show mark on Titled Literature : Can specify whether to show on Titled Literature.
  • Show mark on CD : Can specify whether to show on CD.
  • Show mark on VHS : Can specify whether to show on VHS.
  • Show mark on HomeVHS : Can specify whether to show on HomeVHS.
  • Auto Marking : Automatically mark when retrieved to your inventory (including holding containers).
  • Reverse Marking Display : Reverses the display of Self Marking (defaults to all books with Self Marking displayed).
  • Share Flier Mark : Can specify whether to share the flier marks.
  • Share Brochure Mark : Can specify whether to share the brochure marks.
  • Share Titled Literature Mark : Can specify whether to share the titled literature marks.
  • Share Self Marking : Can specify whether to share the self marking.

Known Issues :
  • For CD/VHS/HomeVHS, only the "Not Read" mark will be displayed, the "Not Completed" mark will not be displayed at this time and will be treated as unread.

Future plans :
  • Bug fix (if exists)

Remarks :
  • Modded books should also work as long as they comply with the vanilla's book-implementation.
  • To make the map already read, the map must be read after enabling this Mod. Maps read before enabling this Mod will be displayed as not read.
  • You may add it to your mod pack without confirmation and credit. However, please use at your own risk, as I have not been able to verify that it works with SP.
  • Since v1.1, the implementation is very dependent on vanilla code. Therefore, I hope that the function of this Mod will be implemented on the vanilla side in the future.
  • If you were unable to log in to the MP server due to an upgrade of this mod, please try the previous versions by downloading them from "Change Notes".

  • v2.13 - Supported Flier/Brochure, added share options.
  • v2.12 - Supported options for Build 42.
  • v2.11 - Compatible with Build 42.

Some issues with Inventory ReInvented tho I can't tell if it's removing marks or they just can't be seen in certain stacking/bag situations.

This mod should be Vanilla :)
Idea: It would be very nice if we could have a separate mod (or implemented in this) with an option to mark any item ingame like "Has Been Found". I allways forgot which tool for example I already looted and it would be perfect to have a manuel marking option for items

I was using this mod and it worked fine in MP. I did a server wipe, I can check and uncheck books, but the paperclip icon doesn't appear. Could you fix it, please? Or make two versión, one for 41 and other for 42. Thanks!! Great work!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion! Actually, I already included the marking feature in a recent update! Now you can easily mark the novels, books, magazines, and comics you've collected. Thanks for your support, and I’m glad you like the mod!

Thanks for the report. I checked the implementation, and it turns out this is a vanilla bug, so it's not something the mod can fix. The issue has already been reported, so we'll just have to wait for the vanilla fix. Thanks for your understanding!

Your mod (along some others) try to write into & consequently create a modOptions.ini instead of the intended ModOptions.ini. This confuses PZ and breaks the mod menu on case sensitive file systems (basically everything but Windows file systems).

Id like to know if you could include, or explain why you cant, marking of novels, books, magazines, and comics. Im trying to collect one of each but dont have a way to mark what ive collected short of reading them all. Would be handy to have. Thanks for the good work either way.

This mod has recently received updates, including compatibility with B42. While I always strive to develop with attention to bugs, it's important to note that no software is entirely free of them. However, this mod currently has over 2.4 million subscriptions, and many users are still actively using it with B41. If there were a significant bug in the mod itself, I would expect a lot more bug reports and comments about it, but this isn't the case. It's very likely that the issue lies with the user’s environment or the Workshop side.

To assist further, I've created a discussion thread specifically for B41 bug reports. If you're experiencing any issues with B41, please provide detailed information and post it there.

Unfortunately, I have confirmed that the latest version (v2.14) is still working properly with B41.
