Description
[Vanilla|"Survival Ready"|Subgrids|Scripts (simple)]

A piston gun that propels a large warhead through magical piston jolting. It breaks the speedlimit (in vanilla) and reaches around 660 m/s ± your ship speed. The gun works in survival worlds, but it is kinda tricky to build it there by hand.

Are you wondering what the hell this is? Well, a gun basically, try it out, it's fun. And also incredibly overpowered. How does it work? Well basically the pistons are attached on both sides and then retracted with incredibly high force, kinda like strechted springs. Once they are released on one side, they snap forwards, carrying the projectile with them.

What's special about this one?
-it's large grid
-it's faster than the small grid ones
-projectiles are properly detached (thanks to double piston design, the red ones)
(prevents weird ghost forces when the projectile flies away too far)
(also better for performance and prevents crashes due to overflowing RAM)
-You can have multiple on the same ship, each timer triggers one gun
(the lag destroys them if you have too many, say more than around 10)

This gun needs a script to properly function. It will fire without it, but you'll run into some weird clangy stuff.
It might also crash your game, so it's better to only use it when scripts are enabled.
The script is super simple and does not run every tick, it is only triggered twice per firing cycle through the timers.

You can turn off the sound blocks that are being played when firing, if you find them annoying. They are just there, because there is no sound otherwise.

How to use:
-It only works in experimental mode
-Place it on your ship
-You can place multiple (they blow up if you add to many)
-Put Timer called (Piston Gun) FIRE in your toolbar with 'trigger now'
-If you have multiple guns, you can group the FIRE timers to fire all at once
-Fire at will :D


Tips:
-It's better not to copy paste existing guns, just paste in new ones from the blueprint list

on existing ships you can just increase the safety detach again on all pistons and rotors

I think the gun might be broken now with the Contact update. At least for me, the warhead merge doesnt seem to successfully detach. Unfortunately I do not understand this demon device well enough to fix it.
I love the gun so much! Could you take a look at it please? Is it working for you? I spawned it in a clean world to test, after it stopped working in my ships.

Whenever I run across a powerful weapon like this, be it clang based or modded. I usually try it out on the toughest ship I've ever built, simply because I have not yet found anything short of a nuke that will get through it's armour, making it an excellent weapon power measuring tool.

This is indeed a very powerful gun, cleverly built. But it still doesn't penetrate the armour of my ship xD, I think it has something to do with the armour being spaced, resulting in only slightly more damage than a regular warhead. It was quite satisfying seeing this gun that obliterates the ship in the video and LSG video be defeated by the armour I designed. I'll put the ship workshop link below
