Riviera Line Electrified LED

Description
Riviera Line Background
Set in the area of the south west coast of England known as the English Riviera, due to its mild climate and sandy beaches, this picturesque line opened in May 1846, with a single track broad gauge line transporting holidaymakers from the city of Exeter to the Torbay resorts of Devon. By the end of the same year, the line had been extended to Newton Abbot, and two years later to Torquay ¬タモ the current Torre station. It was not until 1859 that the Dartmouth and Torbay Railway linked the line from Torre to Paignton.

Riviera Line Electrified LED
Riviera Line Electrifed LED is a fictional electrification upgrade for the already up-to-date Riviera Line. As the former name suggests, this route is based in the years of the 2050s and thus, I have thought up just a little story, to shape the future of this route.

Welcome to the Future!
So as I was testing the quick drives, I question what I would use. Sure I could have just used a East Coast Class 91 + Mark Coahes + Mark 4 DVT, but it would not have looked correct being in Devon. So while I test-drove the route, I came up with a little story. This Story is Based off of the one By Joethfish https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=564595230 :

Great Western Railway
Great Western Railway (GWR) took over the Greater Western franchise in 2015. This went on for 4 years. 2019 saw the break down the First Group and GWR becoming their own company. It sped up from then. Passengers were a lot happier with the new Class 230s, 769s, 800s and 801s and the company received a very good reputation. All the way up to 2050, GWR had won every bid for the Greater Western franhise. Stock has of course changed for the Riviera Line, GWR now operate Class 801s on all sections of the Riviera for Express/IC services and Class 365s operate the local servies as well as the rare sight of the Class 387/1 or /3 also running on a local service and the Class 323 on the Heathfield Branch to Kingskerswell wich is an hour service. GWR also operate the Night Riviera which sees a rake of refurbished MK3 sleepers, MK3 DVT and a Class 90 for traction. The formations run typically with the DVT towards Penzance.

Virgin Trains Cross Country
It took some time, but as of 4th May 2032, Virgin have finally won back the Cross Country fanchise. National Express won the franchise for a short period from 2018 to 2021 where Arriva took over again. That went on until 2027 and an extension to 2032 was awarded. When the franchise was open for biding, Virgin Trains and Stagecoach were clear winners from the start. They have been operating the Cross Country franchise under the TOC name "Virgin Trains Cross Country" since 2032 and have been doing quite well. VTXC use only one type of train on the Riviera Line, that train is the Class 91+Mark 4 Coaches + Mark 4 DVT. The Class 220 and 221s that formerly operated the route new run on the North Wales Coast, which in 2050, is still a diesel railway.

London & South Western Trains
The company is one of the government operator of last resort it runs trains via the west of England line the rolling stock is used it the British Rail Class 350/2 and the British Rail Class 444/2 and British Rail Class 450/2 the British Rail Class 450/2 and 444/2 are Tri-Model and can go up to 110 mph and they are capable of running off 25kv AC OLE, 750 DC third Rail and Batteries. The company was made because South Western Railways got to the point where the trains were over an hour late or canalled.

Direct Railfreight Services
As stated before, in 2019 was the fall of the First Group. This also brought down GB Railfreight. It was quite a few years before they made a reappearance. The former CEO and managers of GB Railfreight were approached by Direct Rail Service on 25th April 2024 and in 2 years, the two companies merged creating "Direct Railfreight Services". The company uses a range of rolling stock from the Class 66 to the 68. The Class 92 is also a common sight along the Riviera Line but less frequent as the diesels due to an act in 2034 stopping all future electrification of freight terminals as the Third Rail was far too dangerous for the safety of workers.

Stations
The year 2022 saw the relaying of a cross over from Paignton Platform 1 to the Up line and the the Keeping of the Cross over From The down Line to Platform 2.
The year 2024 saw the demolition of the dissused platforms Kingskerswell well station. This was done for the rebuilting of the station with a New Platform and Loop to the East on the old down line. It opened in 2026.
The year 2030 saw service to Heathfeild resumed with British Rail Class 323's. As part of the reopening the a New platform was built to the south and east under the dual carriage way with the Line get 25kv ac OLE added.
The year 2031 saw the reopening of Exmintster station with also a goods Loop being added as well. The reopening was meant to happen in 2028 but dune to a major fire witch gutted the station the day before opening. This lead to a three year delay.

NOTE: The story is just for a bit of fun. You don't have to go along with it. Perfectly fine for you to make up your own futuristic fantisy.

Yes, I referred to Network ScotEast as needing the overhead wires available exclusively at ATS. WCMLS v5.3 does not.

The WCML Trent valleys wire are used in the WCML south v5.3 .

1. You don't have to start with "Dear Cyclone". This is informal chat. Unless there are multiple replies and you need to spell out who you are replying to, just spit out whatever you want to say. :steamhappy:

2. I've seen that! I still have to do my ATS route downloads, one of the last things I'm doing before I start playing a lot more. Once I finish that and more snailing UKTS downloading, I'll be going through all my default DLC, but I will have the routes and be trying to keep an eye out for updates to them and scenarios for them. WCML South v5.3 is on my download agenda too, and Network ScotEast as well (though I do not have the overhead wires yet, I'm trying to time subscribing for getting the final version of the subscription routes).

Dear Cyclone, I have made a backdated Isle of Wight which is available on ATS. Here is the link to the route Website link [alanthomsonsim.com].

I'm not a reskinner, myself. But I am sure there are people at ATS who might be able to help.
grahamritchie800  [author] 1 May, 2021 @ 8:46am
Dear Cyclone, Can please make a reskin of the British Rail Class 323 into a GWR livery? The reason why I am asking is because I am not very good at making reskins of trains in train simulator.

I still don't think you understand what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about making a patch. I'm talking about THIS as a patch for the already final route. :steamhappy: But again, it seems the original route maker isn't interested in that, so it's not an issue.
grahamritchie800  [author] 1 May, 2021 @ 12:23am
Dear Cyclone, when I make this route final you can then make a patch for it. The reason why I am saying final is because I make brake the patch and so by making it so that it will not change the patch should not brake.

Not what I meant. But yeah, I know he's OK with it, I had to look around the comments. Both myself and someone else thought something was up until I did that.

The reason behind creating a patch would be to NOT have confusion over the different routes. If existing scenarios work on your version - something I may have to test - when creating a patch for his route would mean people can just run an installer that is provided and be able to get the updates even though his route is final. The existing scenarios would then still work on his route. But it sounds like he doesn't want to figure that out, so that's fine. :steamhappy:

Dear Cyclone. The Joethefish is ok with me doing it a different route and if a patch was made it may make some people confused with the different routes. As Joesthefish is ok with it as it is so why changed it?
