Stereo L4D1 M16 Sound

Description
L4D1's sounds are -incredibly- well-designed - much better so than L4D2's, if you ask me. The M16 in particular, while still using the same base sound in both games, had a distinct "automatic rifle" feel in L4D1 that was achieved by processing the first ~.1 seconds of the waveform with an interesting form of distortion; this was lost in L4D2.

However, the thing with L4D1's sounds is that they're mono, while L4D2's are stereo.

(If you're not a sound engineering nerd, a mono sound plays the same sound on both your left and right, whereas a stereo sound plays two different ones for each side. The result is that stereo sounds are a bit more "spacious" and pleasant to listen to.)

So, after a bit of editing in Audacity, I present to you a stereo-ized version of L4D1's M16 sound. It maintains that iconic "automatic rifle" feel L4D1's sound gave you, while providing a bit of width and space to it like L4D2's.

Unfortunately I don't have a video prepared - yet. I'll upload a comparison as soon as I'm able.

Update: A video has been added showcasing the difference, courtesy of user bonnie in the comments! Thank you again!

if you can't notice the L4D2 sounds have a lot more reverb while L4D1 sounds are a little more refined

This is just ear piercingly loud. Can I make a version of this that's a little quieter?

this is cool in theory but it's pretty harsh to listen to, you should make a more pleasant version of this while trying to maintain the m16's sound

Not sure if you take requests, but could something similar be done for the L4D1 M1911?

a little too loud than the others, just a little, playing with this sound for a long while is so nice, took me awhile to realize it thou. So maybe lower the volume just a little bit, just a suggestion, still subbed either way

pretty much all of them are stock sounds but if you want to be a poindexter about it be my guest

@anudda shoah Not entirely true.

First of all, Hollywood Edge is not a sound library. They *were* a company that sold sound libraries, but they've been out of business for a few years now, and Sound Ideas has the rights to all their assets.

Secondly, not all of Left 4 Dead 1 or 2's stock sounds were taken from Hollywood Edge-owned libraries. The SFX Kit, General Series 6000, Guns Collection, and Dynamic Range - all owned by Sound Ideas - are also home to plenty of them.
