The Child

Description
The Child: Multi-Role Race-Starter. Made for Reforged Eden.

The Child is a Micro starter SV, coming in under 300 Copper/Iron/Silicon, it is a very low cost, high function vehicle for Early Mining, Exploration, and Salvage. The Child is a "Multi-role Race-starter" for getting off your planet FAST.
This vehicle is not a novelty, it's the result of over 50 hours of work and it was never intended to look the way it looks, it went through more than a dozen body shapes to find the ideal body shaping for utilizing a single drill head and maneuvering within its own drill radius, I am extremely stubborn about things working the way I want them to, and I don't like publishing something unless I think it provides something new and/or missing from the workshop. Suffice to say, I believe this to be an exceptional vehicle and it fills a unique multi-role early game niche, and it does so while having extraordinary Speed, Flight characteristics, hauling capacity, and secondary features ( armor locker, wireless, fridge, etc ). It is also Weapon ready. & it is the combination of all of these things into a package this size, this early in the game, in a space-worthy SV, that I believe to be exceptional and worthy of sharing with all of you.
With a slimline, compact, and rounded form, The Child mounts either 1, or 3 Mechanical drill heads, which it uses to great effect.

Combining our Drills with the smallest-form enclosed cockpit available, in an over-under arrangement, and a tight overrall, rounded form, that is only 1 Block longer than the drill itself, with rounded edges top and bottom, front to back. What we get is a Miner that can comfortably rotate inside of it's own drill-hole. ( drill while you rotate to widen it out )
The Child will Drill and Haul over 1500 copper ore ( heaviest early game ore ) at 1G, and carry it back to base at impressive speeds. With 3500 Storage capacity, you can safely hold 1500 of any Ore type, plus an extra supply of biofuel & oxygen tanks, and you'll still have another 300 storage space for whatever your little heart desires. because I only mine about 1500 Ore before I move on to a larger, Warp-capable SV, the Standard Child uses a single Drill head, It operates very nicely with 3, though, too. And if you wish to do a good deal more mining with it you can make that conversion by simply removing his "ears" ( 2 medium thrusters ) and replacing them with 2 more Mechanical drills. For the standard version I opted for Movement Speed over drill speed because between moving Ore back and forth from base, scouting my starter planet, travelleing into space, scouting, and probably making a moon-salvage trip, I spend considerably more time flying in my starter than I do actually putting Drill to Ore.

The same conversion can also be done to add 2 Miniguns to the craft, and it will Belly-mount a turret, too, while still being able to fit inside it's drill hole & staying close enough to CPU limit to operate.

Superior Mobility

The Child will ROCKET you into Space, either to orbital wreck sites, or the moons, for Mining or Salvage, with 3500 volume of storage, you can tether up & retreive 2 fully constructed Medium CV engines & a dozen fuel and oxygen tanks, an impressive feat for a Vehicle only 2M x 4M. The Child is purpose-built for expanding your salvage options & stuffing that factory very early in the game.

The Child is also a High-G scouting & early exploration powerhouse, with an onboard detector and Maximum speeds in forward and Up directions, as well as highly refined and nearly perfectly balanced Flight characteristics, you will truly feel "The Force" in this vehicle. It comes standard with Orbital overdrive Forward speeds ( 130 m/s ) & It is capable of High-G flight ( over 10G ). It's Yaw and Pitch are beautifully balanced and practically unrivalled for an Early game SV. You can't truly appreciate the abilities of this craft until you actually fly it, is flys BEAUTIFULLY, and a lot of hours went into making that a reality.

The Child uses Both Ambient Omnidirectional Low intensity light, plus a focused & distinguishable spotlight to gauge forward distance to Ore/Rock.

The Child comes standard with an onboard Detector, Ammo controller, Armor Locker, Fridge, and Wireless, everything you need to don your armor and get the hell off your planet.

With a Tiny form factor and the ability to quickly burrow, The Child can safely Burrow inside of, and mine Asteroids from the Inside out, to avoid drones. Combined with it's ridiculous speed and handling, emerging from the rock and jetting away in an Upthrusting roll is laughably easy. I've flown directly through groups of 10 or more drones and right past a sunat corvette. You're going over 130 m/s and you can do it in a Pitched roll, too. & you're tiny. So long as you keep moving, nothings really going to hit you in this craft.

I've used this ship before, but just spawned into a RE 1.6, and there is no Fridge. Was it removed?

Hard to believe how effective this thing is at early game mining for such a cheap price!

This ship is amazing. Just a heads up though, this description mentions "The Child comes standard with an onboard Detector, Ammo controller, Armor Locker, Fridge, and Wireless, everything you need to don your armor and get the hell off your planet.", but there's no Ammo Controller, just a Harvest Controller. I thought I was going a bit crazy after reading that and trying to figure out exactly where/how to configure it for gunning. Still a spectacular ship, I was just confused.

This is the ideal SV. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Yeah, sorry, that was all on me. Updated and showing correct now. Nevermind me lol.

Hang on, might be on my end. There was another little update waiting for me. I'll let you if that fixed it.

Hey Artemis, I love this and the Omni both, BUT in SP mode RE 1.4- it says wrong version for both of them.
