Description
Turret for the TTT, traitor weapon with anti-tester feature
It is fully compatible with Sandbox and the DarkRP as well.

This turret can be used by traitors to kill innocents easily.
It works in the Sandbox too.
It is now compatible with the TTT_Spectator_Deathmatch[github.com].

Anti-tester:
When traitors are shot, they do not receive damages. But for innocents not to know they have not been harmed, other players see a fake health level when aiming at traitor victims (<real health> - <damages not received>).

Distance:
The maximum distance to spawn the turret is 100 from the player who got it.

Safe placement:
It can only be placed on the world itself, not on entities.

Damages:
The turret harms the player with about 6HP per shot.

Health:
The turret initially has 500HP.

Configuration
You do not need to reload the map after modifying these console variables.
  • ttt_turret_health = 500
  • ttt_turret_dmg_scale = 2

Notes
1- If you have an addon that adds a hook to "ScaleNPCDamage" or "EntityTakeDamage" that returns a value, then you may have problems because of the execution order of hooks. In most cases of problems, the damage system of the turret will be ignored. "ScaleNPCDamage" scales the received damages and makes the turret destroyable. "EntityTakeDamage" scales the damages inflicted to players: it multiplies by 2 the default turret damages and it handles traitors' fake damages.

According to https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Npc_turret_floor it does not seem to be possible with a setting.
You can reduce the detection distance by making the NPC unable to see the player, but you cannot extend it. I suggest checking out https://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Category:NPC

how to modify the engagement distance? like how do i change how close players have to be so the turret start shooting?

I'd like to be able to up the damage slightly. If it's not too much trouble can you make it configurable? If not, don't sweat it.

- Garry's Mod includes Half-Life 2 content so there is no dependance.
- I have not made damages configurable. Is it something that you need?
