Description

Current version: 2.0c
Please refer to the changelog for patch notes.

This mod adds a full set of concrete and reinforced concrete blocks to the game. These use the Concrete Skin textures but are built with concrete, which is made from gravel. The blocks' textures are connected when placed next to each other, just like armor blocks. Furthermore, adding this mod to your savegame will disable the Concrete Skin as these blocks act as a replacement.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:

72 New Concrete Blocks
Available only in large grid, concrete blocks are very cheap and durable but extremely heavy. All block shapes exist in two variations - Concrete and Reinforced Concrete. All light / heavy armor shapes are available as concrete blocks.

Integrated into the Game
These concrete blocks use Keen's armor system, meaning that their textures are connected across blocks placed next to each other. The concrete blocks also represent a much-needed sink for gravel, as the concrete component that the blocks are largely made of requires gravel to be produced. Furthermore, as these blocks would be rather pointless if the concrete skin could achieve the same look, this mod disables the Concrete Skin from being used.

  • Chipstix213 - For kindly re-exporting the necessary models for the initial version for me using 3DsMax, as Blender was refusing to cooperate.

That's not a good solution because it will get overwritten whenever I update or Steam randomly decides to redownload the mod. Instead, create a local mod with those changes and overwrite the concrete mod that way.

@WileyCoyote what I did was modify the Components.sbc and Blueprints.sbc files in \Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\244850\2298956701\Data to set the amount of stone per concrete to 1 and the weight of concrete to 1 kg. a 10-fold increase in efficiency might seem crazy but it feels pretty balanced for me. obviously you can set it to whatever you want

With the recent updates to the game and how much less gravel is produced, I'm struggling to produce enough gravel to make even moderate amounts of gravel from stone.

So much so, I've blacklisted stone from my primary refineries and built four survival kits just to generate gravel.

Anyone know of a mod that will help me make MORE gravel. I'd never thought I'd be running out.

There's about half a dozen mods on the workshop that re-enable the concrete skin, yes.

Is there any way to use this mod without disabling the concrete skin?

It makes blocks like Gates and hangar doors and other decorative elements stick out awfully to not be able to use them.

hey enenra! im assuming as concrete is more durable than light armour, reinforced concrete is more durable than heavy armour?

Thanks a lot for this mod that should have been vanilla.
But since there's new floor blocks in Apex Survival, is it possible to cancel concrete skin desactivation ? (cause new floor blocks can't be built using concrete skin anymore)

why can't this be in the base game ?! gravel is useless otherwise

@Uzar I figured it went without saying that I was talking about a version that used a different texture set. I'm well aware of why this mod requires the DLC, and that the requirement can't be arbitrarily disabled. I also totally understand if enenra doesn't want to bother making such a version. It would just be really nice to have since this is the ideal implementation of a concrete blocks mod (just using gravel as the source material).

@HarbingerDawn this is very much out of enenra hands. The texture used on the blocks is a DLC texture / skin. If enenra uploaded the mod without the DLC requirements, the mod either wouldn’t work without the DLC or enenra would have to violate Steam and Keen rules on content upload (both undesirable).
