The Arcology Project: Site 23

Description
The Arcology Project: Site 23
100% VANILLA, NO MODS, ASSETS, OR DLC REQUIRED
>>> READ BEFORE BUILDING <<<

>>> UNPAUSE THE GAME AND LET TIME PASS BEFORE BUILDING. There will be some minor flooding at the start of the map which will settle after a few minutes of allowing the game to run at full speed. This is an unavoidable side-effect of the free hydro-electric dams. <<<

>>> QUAY DISCLAIMER: They look nice, but I fully acknowledge that they are somewhere between useless and in the way. If you don't like them, don't want them, or run into issues with them, you are 100% free to delete them. I will do better next time. Apologies. Fine Road Anarchy mod will let you build there regardless of the quays. <<<

BonBonB Map Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kAKYSiRutI

This map is the successor to "A Perfect Circle Island"
6 In / Out Highway Connections (full map coverage, completely interconnected)
6 Train Connections (full map coverage, completely interconnected)
4 Plane Connections (full map coverage, completely interconnected)
4 Shipping Routes (completely interconnected, map coverage: 20 of 25 tiles, excluding the 5 in the center which would form a + shape.)

Map is optimized for 9 tile and 25 tile city builds.

Map Features:
A Fully Integrated Transport Network
Twenty-three 6-way Underground Diverging Stack Interchanges
Each 6-Way has six Butterfly Interchanges linked into a perfectly circular surface loop
Each island has an over-under stacked metro *and* train loop underground.
Each interchange is perfectly centered in each island
The map center is *precisely* map center.
The islands are perfectly circular
The islands are 60 degrees and 240u apart center to center *exactly*
Every node placement is completely, perfectly, 100% symmetrical on 3 axis

The terrain consists of a very gradual linear grade which starts at 275m in the center of the map, and gently slopes down to the sea bed over the map's width. Sea level is standard 40m.

Six water sources (0.5 size) (max height, unlimited flow) feed the city 20,000 MW of free electricity sponsored by 30 *perfectly* placed dams. Since the map is downhill in every direction from center, the water is split into six separate flows, channeled between the six islands surrounding center. The energy from the water is captured by the T1 dams(6), split into two flows (per branch), and harnessed again at the 2 T2 dams(12). Downstream of T2 dams, it is allowed to merge with adjacent flows, and then the collective forces are then put to work by two more dams per branch at the T3 dams(12). All dams are electrically connected by partial rings of Advanced Wind Turbines... The locations of which are guaranteed to be accurate to literally within a SCALED centimeter.

There are 29,807 trees in a ring around the outside 1/4th of the center island, hand placed in 10 distinct groups. The six islands which make up the secondary ring (from center) have 12,496 trees each. The tertiary 12 islands have 8326 trees each, and the four islands in the very corners of the 25 squares have 6249 trees each.

Each island has access to every resource type: Ore, Oil, Trees, Fertile Land, and even every type of fish.

Currently no plans to purchase CS2, let alone port any projects. Also for obvious reasons the plans to release the next version of this map have been cancelled. Unless something crazy happens. Part of what made this map and the next one (that won't happen now) even possible was all the mod support from the community and the powerful tools they developed to help with editing. In the extremely unlikely event I play CS2 it would still likely be years before I'll tackle another map. Sorry to disappoint.

This is the map my OCD has been craving!! Thank you so much for my sleepless nights and red eyes. :steamhappy:

I hope you are able to port this to the upcoming CS2 map dimensions - that would make the game EPIC!!!

love the map, my one and only thing I dislike is trying to set up the train/metro lines. The over/under can be handled but my issue is the 2 lines coming in on one section of the map
Im sure you know what im talking about

The terrain on this map isnt the worst and is easily workable if you take the time to tweak it

Are you still working on a flat version? Pretty please!

I'm Having a real hard time trying to figure out the Rail / metro system. It seems super over engineered and i've yet to figure it out. Plus, I'm finding placing ferries is nearly impossible.

I don't know of any reason why intercity busses would not work on this map.
MJKERR 3 Apr, 2022 @ 9:00pm
Is there an issue with Intercity busses on this map
I have only just noticed, but they never appeared
I have setup a simple new map, and it has the same issue
Has something been overlooked or just not possible?

Sounds like you might like my next map then :) @MJKERR

@Tinkerbell
Many thanks

I have been expanding on this map, and my strategy is very uniform and is nearly working
I have tried to completely some of the islands, but some really do not like it, to create a uniform template

My latest issue was at the centre of the map, the Metro became flooded
The only solution was to remove all the Metro links between the Islands

I would prefer a featureless map, as I could then pre-plan
I have had to remove ALL the trees, so I can add Forestry to one Island

I understand your frustrations @MJKERR and I'm currently working through the same challenges in my new map design. The good news is it's very flat compared to this one... The bad news is it's rather featureless atm because of it. Still working on addressing that. I'll keep you posted.
