Description
Presenting the twenty-seventh skin in my very first collection, the Negev | Rising Tide!

This is the second of the two LMGs that I have worked on, the M249 having been much more of a challenge to create. The flat faces and hard edges on this gun made it so I had little extra work to do after projecting the design besides cleaning up the edges on the UV sheet.

One detail of the Negev that surprisd me was that the chain of bullets can be textured as well. I'm pretty sure after checking that there is only one skin in the game (Prototype) which incorporates this, I’m not sure if people don’t know this or they are just happy with the default texture. Nothing about the obj and uv sheet provided indicates the capacity to adjust the texture for this part of the weapon so I stumbled on this by accident. The way I edit my UV sheets is I create a black stencil to hide any unused parts of the mesh in order to make it look more visually organized, and when I imported my vtf file in game the bullets were solid black.

What I did after noticing this was I took the default texture and placed it over my texture file, then cut out the bullet and deleted the rest. This ensured that the texture would line up even if my UV sheet doesn’t show it. I used hue/saturation and exposure settings to change the colour of the bullets to make them suit the design better than the default golden shells.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my collection! Only seven more guns to go, saving a special one for the end ;) If you like what you see and are interested in what’s to come consider giving my workshop a follow, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, thank you for your time!
