Description
Kaboom
The Fuse
  • Kaboom’s core mechanic revolves around the lit bombs he carries at all times.
  • The fuse has a max duration of 8 seconds.
  • Hitting enemies with the bomb will cause additional time to shave off the fuse. And if done at the right time, the bomb will explode mid attack dealing bonus damage and knockback to Kaboom’s opponents.
  • Warning! if Kaboom is still holding a bomb when it explodes and it the bomb isn’t currently striking an enemy, he will take 2% damage.
High, Low and Prime Fuse
  • When Kaboom’s bomb is still blue it has a High Fuse which means there is at least 4 seconds left on the fuse.
  • When Kaboom’s bomb is flashing orange there is more than 2 seconds, but less than 4 seconds left on the bomb’s fuse. This is called Low Fuse. Uspecial and Fspecial are empowered once you reach this state. Also the next normal attack that connects the bomb with an enemy will instantly drop the fuse into the next state called Prime Fuse.
  • When Kaboom’s bomb is flashing orange and white it is in Prime fuse state. Prime fuse bombs only have 2 seconds left on their timer. They gain the same empowerment on Uspecial and Fspecial as Low Fuse. Prime fuse bombs will explode when Kaboom next hits an opponent with the bomb.

Loose Bombs:
  • Using Nspecial allows Kaboom to throw, roll, or drop bombs upon his enemies. Bombs that are in motion deal minor damage and knock back when they hit enemies. This also causes that bomb’s fuse to be reduced by a bonus amount . That means if the bomb’s fuse is low enough, it will explode on impact.
  • Kaboom can have a maximum of 2 loose bombs on stage. Making a 3rd will cause the oldest bomb to disappear
  • Loose bombs can be knocked away with any hitboxes produced by any player
  • Skull bombs are created when enemy players hit loose bombs. These bombs are shown by having a skull painted on them and when they explode close enough to Kaboom, they deal full damage and knockback to the panda.
  • Parried bombs will turn into Skull bombs and reflect they way they came.

Specials
Nspecial: Plop
  • Tapping the special button will cause Kaboom to gently drop his bomb creating a loose bomb.
  • Holding Nspecial will allow Kaboom to throw the bomb. Aim forward, back, up or at an angle to get different throw directions!
  • While in the air, you can aim the bomb downward with a quick kick.

Fspecial: Here comes Kaboom
  • Kaboom places his bomb behind them and then causes it to explode, propelling him forwards in a lunging headbutt.
  • This attack can be angled slightly upward or downward.
  • Here Comes Kaboom can be jump canceled after hit

  • Low/Prime Fuse Bonus: If the bomb Kaboom is currently holding has a low fuse (4 seconds left) or prime fuse (2 seconds left) Rocket Punch gets a major boost in speed and power. Using this attack in Low/Prime Fuse mode has the potential to finish off enemies it normally can’t.

Uspecial: Explosive Ascent
  • Kaboom gets on top of his bomb and causes it to explode, propelling him high into the air
  • Low/Prime Fuse Bonus: If Kaboom is currently a low fuse bomb (4 seconds left) or prime fuse bomb (2 seconds left) Uspecial gets the following bonuses:
    -No pratfall
-On hit, Kaboom can jump cancel or attack cancel.

Special: Butt Bomb
  • Kaboom jumps and and falls butt first to the ground or onto his enemies
  • If already mid air, Kaboom simply drops from his current spot
  • Kaboom can wall jump out of this attack
  • When Kaboom hits the ground, any loose bombs owned by Kaboom will bounce into the air and explode early.

Strongs

Dstrong
  • Kaboom slams a bomb into the ground and creates a land mine..
  • The land mine uses the fuse timer of the bomb Kaboom had in his hands, but charging Dstrong adds bonus fuse time to the mine
  • Kaboom can only have one mine in play at a time, if he places a new one while one already exist, the old one will blow up immediately.
  • Bombs that are rolling across the ground and hit the mine will be launched into the air as if hitting a ramp.
  • Mines blow up when their fuse runs our or when an opponent stands on the mine.
  • Hitting opponents with the downward swing of the attack will most often press the enemy into the newly created mine, causing it to explode
  • Note: Airborne opponents don’t trip mines unless they are in hitstun
  • Mines don’t blow up instantly upon contact. Enemies have 5 frames starting at contact to parry the upcoming explosion.
  • Super Mine Jump: If Kaboom is standing on his mine when he jumps, the mine will explode and send Kaboom much higher than his standard jump

    Developer’s Notes:
  • Dtilt can be canceled into Ustrong and Fstrong. Use this special tech to reposition Kaboom’s strongs in a snap.
  • At any time during a match pressing down+taunt will make a fuse indicator appear below Kaboom
  • While filling the stage with bombs may feel like a powerful strategy, doing so means that you will have filled the stage with High fuse bombs. This bombs are actually easy to clear by opponents and can be used against Kaboom as skull bombs
  • Try throwing bombs when they have a Prime fuse so that they will blow up on contact. This way the bombs have way more power and are much much harder to use against you as skull bombs.
  • Kaboom’s power to deal damage and kill opponents fluctuates with his fuse timer. Use Normals to help shave the fuse timer down more quickly. Once low, try to connect with another fuse shaving normal, strong, or Fspecial to deal optimal damage and try to knock enemies into the blast zone.
  • Whenever you have time, try to have a high fuse mine planted at all times. Mines are the only type of bomb that will always explode on enemy contact regardless of fuse timer. Plus they have the added utility of the super mine jump and acting as a ramp for your bombs. Use mines to help control the stage.

I think just based on your mindset during creation, I would say they can easily be slotted into the canon! I would say they are probably of the fire element faction.

@Monagression I haven't put much thought into it. I definitely try to make my characters to fit the aesthetic of the game, so getting the lore is just one step over. I would love Kaboom to be part of the original game lore.

Quick question: would you say this character could be classified as a character born in the rival of aether world, or are they from their own canon? I'm making a list of rival canon workshop characters

Ah yeah sorry he got a rework.

Tapping Neutral drops bombs. Holding Neutral and a direction throws bombs.

How can I throw bombs with strong attacks? Have they been reworked?
