The map is a small scale depiction of the area most famously know as "Little Round Top". The fighting began here in the afternoon of July 2nd and Confederate Gen. Jame Longstreet's I Corps intended to strike the Union III Corps, dangerously advanced on ground along the Emmitsburg Road. Fighting as fierce and often hand-to-hand from the Peach Orchard to Rose Woods, see-sawing across the Wheat Field and Houck's Ridge, over the huge boulders of Devil's Den and the Plum Run creek. You will find that tactics and strategy from that day are still your best option today, however hopeless they may seem.
