Description

[fr.tipeee.com]

Compatible with New Frontier 2020 - Gathering Storm - Rise and Fall - Vanilla
->The Gathering Storm XP is necessary for this mod to work.

This mod adds a new Improvement to all major civs: The Racetrack
The Horses resource is no longer of much use when cavalry become obsolete. With Racetracks, you can now generate amenities, and money if you bet on the right horse ...

Steel unlocks the Builder ability to construct a Racetrack. You must have at least 1 Horses Resource to build it. If a Pasture is already in place, you will need to destroy it (and consume a charge of Builder) in order to build it. It is buildable on flat terrains with a Horses Resource. Grants +2 Gold. The Racetrack gives another +3 additional Gold whith the discovery of Professional Sports. You can have only one Racetrack per city. It grants +3 Amenities in the city.

History:
The Iliad of Homer says that Achilles traced a track for the chariot race won by Diomedes. The first racetracks therefore date from Antiquity. The first permanent racetrack in ancient Rome was built by Tarquin the Elder. It is called Circus Maximus, hence the term circus, and has an oblong shape. These circuses are dedicated to chariot and horse racing. The last of the great racetracks of Antiquity is that of Constantinople, which remains in activity until the capture of the city by the Fourth Crusade on April 12, 12046. Horse racing lasted throughout the Middle Ages and until the beginnings of the modern era in France, Italy and England mainly, but without mention of racetracks. The first modern horse racing events were held in Paris on May 15, 1651 in the presence of Louis XIV and the future Charles II of England, always without mention of a racetrack. It was not until the beginning of the 17th century that the first modern racetrack opened in Newmarket, England. King Charles II of England allowed him to obtain superiority over all the other racetracks. The traditional May race, called "Craven", was instituted in 16717. On July 1, 1700, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a race was organized between notable English and French, for which the track was delimited with a line. On April 20, 1776, the first permanent French racetrack was inaugurated near Paris, in the Plaine des Sablons, in Neuilly. The Vincennes racecourse was created in 1780 to please Marie-Antoinette of Austria, passionate about this sport. The renovation of horse racing led to an increase in the construction of racetracks in the 18th and 19th centuries: in 1851, there were 51 racetracks in France. Horse racing was the most watched sport during this period in England and France. Permanent racetracks are also multiplying in Italy.

It doesnt seem to give my city any amenity from improvement?
So if you build anywhere, it gives no amenity, on horse gives amenity?

sadly is not giving .

Awesome way to make use of horses rather then having too many horse pastures as well add bit adding bit diversity and variety.:Diplomat:

You can build it everywhere but the most clever thing is to build it on a horse resource

At the moment I can build that improvement not just on horse ressources like you described.

There's also the issue that they do not appear on the strategic map.

Nice! However, I can build it on snow, far from horse resources.

Very nice. As soon as I heard what Byzantiums new district was called, I thought of this amazing mod, and when I finally came to ask my question, I found that I do not need to ask.
Thanks for this great mod Gedemo.

Great idea though I'm afraid +3 amenity may be a bit too much. A +1 per improvement with the same gold bonus may be more balanced IMO.

Love your improvements, would be nice if the hippodrome and labyrinth showed up in the tech tree though since they have nice icons and everything.
