Description
Advanced AutoResolve for Attila Modders 2023 edition
1) The Defensive button (also "protect") gives only the player the advantage in autoresolve battles of all situations without weakening AI vs AI battles in any way.
The mod does strengthen settlement/fortify/bridge defenders vs normal autoresolve even for AI.
2) The "protective" resolve button is no longer the same as a retreat with loss button. It actually gives a 75% boost over the old Defend button.
The retreat rate has been reduced so there is no longer an option for retreating to fight another day. It was found that the retreat option lead to poor outcomes. Now your unit is at an advantage but only if the numbers are near parity.
3) Most autoresolve issues of Vanilla have been fixed and you will receive a result akin to a decent player if you autoresolve with the Aggressive or Middle button.
4) The AI does not realize that you have this special ability and will not hesitate to attack when they think they are at an advantage.
5) Narrows the randomness window to under 2%. What you see in the bar is what you'll get unless you use the cheat.
6) Compatible with any mod, even auto-resolver mods.

When to use the Defense button?
When the outcome is clearly unfair with the other buttons or your modding.
The protective button still keeps its excellent other features:
--Favors missiles, siege and spears (when cav are present)
--The losses are spread evenly across your army
--The losses are about 65% of aggressive resolve due to both sides retreating early
--Most importantly, defensive battles are far too many and grind down the player. This mod simulates the advantages a human player would have if defensive battles are fought out.
See discussion.

Observations
The benefit varies from 1% to 90%.
If the match is even, the benefit is about 70%.
If you outnumber your opponent, the benefit is exaggerated vs Vanilla.
If you have lower numbers, you will not receive the full benefit.

Many improvements in normal autoresolve
The AI advantage has been removed in most situations.
Missiles moderately weaker and Cav slightly stronger in AutoResolve results.
Without the mod, missile troops are unfairly weighted.
Cities and Settlements buffed about 15%
Much more. See discussion to be posted later.

This mod save my life, now attila will be less boring instead of endless crappy def battles especially in legendary WRE

If you want max advantage (or realism), use this mod if your numbers are slightly lower than opponents and my last mod if you have an advantage an want to roll over a fortified post with less damage. Even then, it depends heavily on unit composition. The native autoresolve rewards heavy dps units, esp javs and archers. It rewards cav heavily as well except in settlements and against spears. I increased cav effectiveness in open battles but kept their weakness against spears and fortifications.

@dragonfable: This mod provides the most benefit on defensive stance. Your results are way out of line of my extensive test results. You tend to lose here if outnumbered but the losses are minimal compared to most autoresolve. Make sure you use the defensive button.
