Southport Line Public Belt Railroad

Description
The roughly 30-mile long Foley Branch was constructed by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in the early 1900s. This branch line was originally used as a logging railroad, but eventually lost that business. The L&N had plans to continue building south and west all the way to Fort Morgan, but that never became a reality. The piece of railroad became a part of CSX and was torn up from Foley, Alabama all the way north to about where the Pine Grove community is. A few industries are still serviced today by CSX including Plasmine Chemical and International Paper.

This TS2020 route is a "what-if" scenario of what the line could be today if it had been sold off to a shortline instead of being torn up. Using the L&N's original 1939 blueprints for the line, it has been somewhat accurately recreated with the correct industries at the time (assuming they would not shut down), plus or minus some. Two of the major additions are Bayshore Grain near Loxley, Alabama and the inland port in Foley, Alabama (Foley Terminal). The inland port works in conjunction with the port in Mobile, Alabama.

The route is almost entirely TWC with ABS overlay, and has some CTC. There are no grades--this is near the Alabama coastline. Stay alert for crossings and sharp curves, and enjoy the FRA class 5 track sections!

For now, users can create their own rosters for this railroad, but an official locomotive roster will be published at a later date.

This route is meant to be seen from the cab of a locomotive, however, it is still possible to use the third person camera views.

Haha. Anyway, I promise the name will make sense later on.

Nope, that doesn't tell me anything. But somehow, Googling that name brought up MY LOCAL STATION. LUL

It will make more sense when more news comes out. You're taking the name too literally.
munchi  [author] 12 May, 2020 @ 8:41pm
Nope. This is a completely different line. The new name will be Northport Line Terminal Railway.

"The Northport Branch was a spur off the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road, running from between Greenlawn and Northport stations to directly within Northport Village."

That is not Canadian. That is New York, around Northport Village. Unless you are talking about something that goes into Canada and doing the connecting Canadian route? New York suggests Niagara Falls area.

I will not be giving that away just yet, but the name Northport Line should give a hint.

What route?

cpr2816, I have had plans to do that for almost 6 months now. It's coming. It is the next project after the one I am currently building for a friend.
