Check Change Notes if you see any update.

The skill tree is a work in progress. Will gradually add more skills, refine FX, balance, etc.

I generated speech lines using OpenAI GPT. If you find any weird dialogue, please report in the comment.

New economy mechanism:
To address the problem of abundant honey and cost-free army growth, a honey economy system is introduced:
  • Extra bees (from child hives) will periodically consume honey. If not enough honey, they gradually die. This cost grows exponentially.
  • Regenerating extra bees will cost honey. If not enough honey, they will not regen. This cost grows exponentially.
  • Summoning bees to fight from Teleportal may cost honey (25% to cost 1 honey per bee).
  • Refilling Wuzzy's bees now costs hunger, and stops at below 20% hunger.

Now you’ll need to balance your honey supply between growing your army, feeding yourself, and other purposes.

Some tips on playing Wuzzy:
  • In early game, build bee boxes, these will be your main food resources. Also, Wuzzy can harvest bee boxes easily, so why not.
  • Explore the world to unlock your bees. Usually, I would unlock Moonguard first, because it's the easiest one, and useful to taunt mobs for you.
  • Use Metapis Teleportal to fight bosses. Do NOT rely only on your 6 bees alone to fight everything. Build your army up, and use teleportals to summon them anywhere to fight.
  • After unlocking some bees, you can fight Bee Queen to upgrade Mother Hive to level 3, which is a huge power boost.
  • Barracks are meant to extend your bee number and boost their stats. Building other hives won't increase numbers as much. Should only build each hive once to unlock bees, then fully Barracks.
  • Tyrant vs Shepherd skills: if you want to rely less on your bees and have more DPS, choose Tyrant. If you want to rely even more on your bees and just be a fully setup character, choose Shepherd.

Some farming tips:
  • Spider farm: build a Metapis Teleportal next to many Spider Dens, and aggro spiders. As long as your bees are strong enough, especially with the Shadow ones, you can farm spiders easily.
  • Bunnyman farm: build Rabbit Hutches inside walls, and put a Teleportal next to it. When Bunnymen spawn, hold a meat in your inventory to aggro them. Bees will spawn from Teleportal to fight as they detect aggro on you. As long as your bees are strong enough, you can farm meat easily.
  • Pigman farm: similar to Bunnyman farm, build pig houses and aggro them. Your bees take care of the rest.
  • Combined with honey from Bee boxes, food is very abundant.

Mechanisms you may want to know:
  • If Wuzzy attacks a target, all nearby bees will focus on that target for 5 seconds, ignore all other targets even if they attack the bees.

And also i will tune down the cost a bit.

Thanks for feedback. Yes i forgot to factor day time between different seasons. I calculated the honey consumption during Autumn only. There will be new skill tree to help make more honey, maybe with the cost of something. I was also thinking about making Bee Queen in hive state tradeable, so you can trade gold or rare ingredients for honey.

TLDR; new economy good. early game harder but fair, late game not hard but a little annoying.

Suggestions: Make metapis workers better with a perk or new building. Improve regular beeboxes or make metapis beeboxes so that we have better space management. Add perks that help with winter honey economy (not too important if not added tho).

Some suggestions I have to improve the experience more is to buff or add a perk that makes the metapis workers actually good. They are honestly pretty useless and it really sucks because they are the only reliable you can get honey in winter without fighting bees.
Alternatively, maybe a child hive that upgrades them to get more pollen or reduce honey costs by a third.

The biggest problem I have is actually to do with regular beeboxes and the space needed for more than 3. I want to have more honey producing so I can actually have a surplus for myself but having 5 beeboxes next to my base for the upkeep of a level 3 hive and all the childhives is insane (30 honey per day). Especially in early spring when the days are really short and they don't even make 4 honey per box. Some suggestions are to maybe make a new building or a Wuzzy item to upgrade beeboxes or have an insight perk that makes regular bees better

After playing through a whole year on 2 different worlds (one was made after the honey economy update) I think that the new honey economy is well balanced. It actually provides another layer to managing the hive so you can't just mindlessly keep adding hives. It wasn't that intrusive to manage either since you had to build bee boxes anyway.

Fighting the Bee Queen isn't as simple as putting the mother hive next to the BQ and building 2 child hives next to her to tank the bumblebees infinitely. I tried fighting her the first time in winter with the moonguard and the shadow hives and stalled out on phase 2 because I had no honey to regen the bees.
Winter is tough without farming honey for a couple days before the beeboxes stop working.

Bug fix worked, thank you.

@Q00B you can check the wiki for how it works. Basically, any extra bees from child hives will consume honey if they are inside the hive. For 3 barracks + full child hives, level 1 hive costs ~32 honey per day, level 3 hive costs ~48. You need to farm much more honey to maintain the army.
Or you can just let them reduce to base number.

curious on how exactly the new honey economy system works? when and how much honey do the hives consume? seems to be quite alot even tho i only have 3 barracks, my honey is constantly at 0 now

@UselessAwe you can try again. However, i suspect there is some mods in your game that do something with hunger that may cause this. The logs look weird.

Looks like you were dead or something. I will fix soon.
