Start with a weak weapon but killing enemies will cause items to drop.
Killing enemies that are difficult to kill with will reward you better.

Tip:
If you run out of ammo, kill the mortarbug.
If you get a parasite, kill other parasites. There is a good chance that you will get an Electric Armor.
When attacked by a shield bug, there is a chance that the Equipped weapons will fly away. Armor will help. And Sarge's grip is the best in the world.
Power fist are effective against large bugs, if you can handle the rest. And Wolfe has a strong lower body.
Rail rifles with the new gravity feature can sometimes help.
