2166 - The Calamity

Three unmanned drone ships crash-landed into the planet XEON-4, scattering their payload of hazardous chemicals and pressurised fuel. A toxic fog rapidly spread across the small planet. It engulfed cities in a matter of hours, laying waste to everything it touched. Worse still, long-range scanners revealed a fleet of pirate ships advancing from a neighbouring sector.

Fortunately, the advanced civilization of XEON-4 had a contingency plan in place for such an event. They mass-evacuated via escape pods to "The Behemoth" - a colossal space station orbiting a nearby planet.

A team of 32 engineers, scientists and pilots known as "The Chosen" remained behind. In a deep underground bunker, safe from the fog, they added the finishing touches to their creation. "DOWNPOUR" was a sight to behold. A 350 kiloton fighter ship forged from hardened titanium and Xethine. It featured 4 powerful beam turrets alongside a wide selection of specialized weaponry and enough engine thrust to knock a small planet out of orbit.

The Chosen were tasked with defending their home planet and the invaluable technology and machinery that remained on the surface. It was critical that this technology could not fall into the wrong hands. This is the moment they had been training for. They were ready.
