Description
Map themes change the looks of the environment around you. This means everything about the sky, like brightness, sunrise and sunset colors, etc. All the colors and images of the grass, mountainsides, water colors, etc etc.

This map theme requires the mod Daylight Classic, with classic sun intensity enabled. It is a harmless visual mod, so have no fear in using it :) If you know what you're doing, or carefully read how to use Relight mod (it's well worth it!), then you can use Relight etc instead of Daylight Classic.

Design

This theme is modeled to simulate the Mediterranean-temperate climate zone with red clay soil found on the Mediterranean shores of the Levant (Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. Although it's geared towards that place, there are also other places in the world might also have a similar look.

The grass is drier in color, but becomes standard grass color in areas with lots of trees and bushes, and also where ground is fertile. Essentially, wherever grass is more likely to turn lush and green in reality, the grass of this map theme does as well.

It is not meant to look right for a map with tall mountains (on very large exposed cliff sides, the fine rock details will look smooth from afar). For small exposed areas it looks just fine, or you can also use Avanya's Arid Cliff pack, which you can see in some of the images above. ^

Visual Modification Required

Why do I need a mod? I tried my best to make this in vanilla for you, folks; however, the default visual environment makes this kind of bright, sunny, warm map theme very, very harsh. I tried but it simply looked horrid.

Option 1: Daylight Classic, classic sunlight intensity activated is required, otherwise your eyes will scorch out of your head.

Option 2: If Daylight Classic no longer works, or you are able to use more complex visual mods, you can certainly use those. Relight + Ultimate Eyecandy is a great example. You can fine tune the brightness and shadows to a great degree.

LUT
: All images are without any LUT. Theme was designed without an LUT active on purpose - so that you get to choose what LUT you like. Clarity LUT is a really nice choice. https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=424053830&searchtext=clarity

THANKS!

Thanks goes to pdelmo for sharing many of his map theme textures! They were essential in putting together this theme. They and textures from Textures(dot)com were used, all of them have been endlessly fiddled with to produce this theme.

This map theme was specifically designed to coordinate with the Arid Rocks and Cliffs by Avanya

Oh, I forgot to mention, the colors will change a little if it's not a temperate biome map. The lighting for each is different, but just play around with some LUTs, which is at the bottom of the list of Workshop item categories. Those are also completely safe - just a color filter.

Here it is. Even if it says it's not compatible, it's fine. It's a very safe mod, I use it all the time. https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=611254368&searchtext=environment+changer

Hi, sure! You can put it on any map. If it is not a temperate biome map, just use the mod Environment Changer and you'll then be able to use any of these themes on any map / city save game.

It's pretty. Will it work on all the maps? Like if I try to set it to a map I'm already working on?

Thanks neptune! It is Tel Aviv map. I was going to make Beirut, too, but Tel Aviv got so much hate and bombed with thumbs down votes just because of where the real place is that I had no appetite to keep going with maps from the region. :/ So stupid to review bomb a blank map just because you don't like the real place.
