Intangible Matter

Description
This map revolves around a funny and quite original interaction between the blue gel and the closed solid field (white fizzler that acts like a toggleable wall). You saw it on the thumbnail so I'm not going to play mysterious: you can basically put gel onto the fizzler - I know, it sounds weird. This concept was inspired by a screenshot posted by PhilFromFrance. Merci, Phil !

The chamber is composed of a short introductory room followed by the main puzzle. The intended solution involves no glitches, cube tossing, tight timing or strafing. One particular move requires some notion of speed but I made sure the timing is generous. If you know what you're doing, all the steps should be fairly easy to execute. If something feels overly hard or tedious, it probably means there's an easier way.

Estimated difficulty: 6/10

The music is from Portal Stories: Mel and was composed by Harry Callaghan.

Intended solution: https://youtu.be/UMyiIcYvgGw

EDITS: fixed unintended solutions found by Mikeastro, jgaultney and bullfrog (hopefully).

Hah, sneaky use of the piston platform to reach the exit! The back and forth, mainly to the area with the gel dropper, is indeed a bit of a downside, I'm relieved the core moves helped you to see past that. I also am not a huge fan of gel maps... at all, actually, because the way it spreads and the way it interacts with the player are often a little inconsistent. But there's no denying gels have a lot of potential for cool, fun moves!

This one took a while, mostly because all the moves take their time. The difficulty level wasn't too hard. 6/10 is ok, or even a bit lower. I'm not a huge fan of gel maps where you need to go back and forth and try this and that again and again, with possibly even a progress disappearing (in this case if you turn off the fizzler). But the ideas in this map make it all up, so take my thumbs up :-) the "double fling jump" is cool :steamthumbsup: even though I did it slightly differently. I put only one spot of gel onto the fizzler which forced me to jump from / bounce off the fizzler actively . This felt kind of like parcours and also let me reach the far area safer than in your solution video :neonsmile:
The second thing is that I was able to bypass the ending move a bit because I used only the gel I pushed into the fizzler from the outside (using the blue beam). This can be used from both sides! Here's a video with everything I tried to describe: https://youtu.be/PN3WqI7SFuw

@Mr Fab
Thanks a lot as always, I appreciate it :)

Nice uses of the white fizzler, there was a lot of back and forth to beat this one but I still like it ! :steamthumbsup:

Ah that's unfortunate that you wrongly crossed out a correct move, it's indeed very hard to think your way back to it once you do that. Unfortunate too that this darn piston trapped you! Sorry about that x) still thanks for playing and leaving a comment, I appreciate it a lot!

It's a trap!!!

Another great puzzle, although one that I had to look at the video for. I was close, even had the right idea but gave up on it thinking the wall and fizzler were too far apart to make it work. Even tried it, although the wrong way, and gave up instead of trying harder. So I wasn't exactly surprised by the solution, and I believe I'd have come up with it myself in about a month of trying.

I mean, it could just be the inconsistent game engine... I'm trying to give you some credit here :P

I'm sure it must be to do with your iffy puzzle! It’s definitely nothing to do with the fact that I’m getting older! It’s definitely not because, maybe, I just wasn’t thinking straight and perhaps I didn’t set the move up correctly at the right time! But strangely enough; when I had a break and then did it again from the start, I had no problem at all! Yep it’s definitely down to your “iffy puzzle” xD

@bullfrog
Odd, I know that the bounce you get off the fizzler wall is somewhat inconsistent, but I actually went out of my way so that you should make it to the other side every time. You got lucky with that one move in Legacy, I guess this time you got unlucky :P glad you still enjoyed it!

Still a brilliant puzzle which I actually remembered how to complete. One move didn't work first time - the move from 4:34 to 4:40 in your video - so I checked to see it was correct, then did it again and it worked no problem and I've no idea why. Anyway; still firmly in my list of favourites.
