This Chamber Will Kill You

Description
This chamber is deigned to kill you in various ways, and it will do so. That said, it IS definitely possible to make it through alive! Alas, you will need more than skill alone, luck plays a major factor in most sections. None of the sections are particularly difficult on their own, but stringing good luck together through the whole chamber is a different story.

F6 is definitely your friend here!!

Oh, watch out for boobytraps!!! If you are observant, you'll spot them before they get you.

@Petutski - Oh man, that sucks that the damn cube didn't land right for you. I did what I could in the basic builder to get it in there, but yup, it can fail as you discovered. If I ever learn hammer, I'll redo this one and put guide baskets in so it'll be 100% reliable.
Honestly, the dunk is the only part of this chamber that I like. The rest is kinda meh as far as kill chambers go.
I've only built two kill chambers, this one as a budding designer and a new one called "No Mr. Ngeruma, I expect you to die" which was specifically for Ngeruma, the youtuber to play. They aren't really my cup of tea to play, but they are interesting to design.

After two successful flips of the f-cube into the chute but off-kilter landing of the cube which failed to trigger the button, I could see this map was going to be a PITA. Explored the rest of it with noclip / god and had a great time. Thumbs up for sadism.

Thanks! I imagine every chamber builder ends up making a "kill chamber" at least once. I realize that they are generally more fun to make than they are to play, but I had to make one :)
As far as the boobytraps go, I opted to leave then in, given the theme of the chamber. I made sure to turn off any signage to the traps so that the observant player will notice and avoid them. If it's marked, it's the right way to go, if it's unmarked, it's not.

Hard to say if timiing is even gaugeable. Once the machine gets going, the results are pretty random. There is no question that an umbrella would help in this situation though. I hear they block lasers!

Perhaps timing is key. Hoist bolder with rope, wait for roadrunner, cut rope at precise time, bolder does not fall, give chase, bolder falls at given time, use umbrella for protection.

I noticed the pitch black part while playing on my laptop(no idea why the LUT would be different between the two machines...) I've added a light to that section as it wasn't supposed to be dark.
Damn, you got very lucky to make it through the <echo chamber>Hallway oooof Doom</echo chamber> in one go! That's not a skill area, that's a luck area :)

I guess I spotted all the booby traps. Some parts were pitch black and I wandered through safely. There was such a variety of hazards that I can't recall. Oh yeah, and the cycling flip panels that I had to traverse without falling into laser death, I managed to get by on the first try. I thought "holy shit, I did it". LOL.

As for the publishing, I had some problems also but not all that bad. It would give error indication when uploading, but then try again and it would work. I guess it's something you'll just have to wait out. Steam sucks when it comes to connectivity. Takes so f#*king long for pages to load in the Steam client. That's why I'm using Firefox to comment here.

I lowered the arc of the third faith plate to hopefully avoid the issue you were having. Unfortunately, steam won't let me publish anything at the moment. Not sure if it's a network traffic issue or if it's part of the major bugs that I'm dealing with from the last steam update. I'll have to try again later to see if it lets the publish go through.

Thanks! I think everyone has to try building a death chamber at least once. It's a fun exercise, even if they aren't much fun to play for other people. As I said about yours though, I really appreciated that you kept your normal level of puzzle in there as well! Looking forward to part 2.
Interesting to hear about the faith plate issue. I've not had that happen to me even once. Now that I finally have my desktop machine back, I can go take a look at the file and make an adjustment.
Oh, did you learn to spot the booby traps? I was considering taking those out. It's deadly enough without extra bonus deaths. And awesome job dunking the cube on the first try!!
Skyferret 17 Jul, 2013 @ 1:54am
Yeah, that was a fair bit of death. To my amazement,I did manage to drop the frankenturret into the chute on the first try while on the fly. Other than that, it was a good map if one is into challenging death. One other thing though. I found the third faith plate was making me bonk my head on the ceiling, and i would fall into the goo pond a few time before it finally worked. I sometimes find the trajectory on those things a bit buggy. You end up going higher than the arc that you set it at sometimes.
