Yatesmouth Branch Line (1st Edition)

Description
The Yatesmouth Branch Line is an early Twentieth-Century fictional Great Western Railway (and later, British Railways) branch line that passes through the forests and fields of the fictional Yates River Valley, located in Southern Devon somewhere between the real cities of Totnes and Plymouth. The branch line connects the ficitional vacation and fishing town of Yatesmouth with the fictional city of Braxton and the Great Western Main Line to London.

The route begins near the Greenwell Marshalling Yard (which includes a conflat crane and cattle pens) and Braxton Station (which includes a goods shed, carriage sidings, a turntable, a roundhouse, a coal bunker, and several water towers and pumps) in the fictional city of Braxton. Dyerchester junction, a short distance down the line from Braxton Station, is where the five-and-a-half mile Yatesmouth Branch Line diverges from the from the Great Western Main Line. The line heads further south and uphill over Westham Bank, the route's steepest grade, to Prescombe Station (which includes a goods shed). The tracks continue past the local gasworks sidings through Cranfield Tunnel, the route's only tunnel, and then over the River Yates via the Tilford Viaduct. The branch line then reaches Morrowsbury Station and Morrowsbury Dairies (which includes cattle pens) shortly thereafter. The final leg of the route passes Castle Yates, before crossing the River Yates once more via the River Yates Viaduct and on to Yatesmouth Station (which includes a turntable, a small engine shed, a coal bunker, and several water towers and pumps) and the Yatesmouth Dockyard (which includes a conflat crane and cattle pens) on the English Channel.

This is a route by Daniel O'Hearn (Drangus), designed with high detail and immersiveness in mind. The Train Simulator routes needed for this route are the 'Riviera Line in the 50s' route, the 'Falmouth Branch Route,' the 'Western Lines of Scotland: The Port Road' route, and the 'Netherfield: Nottingham Network' route. The Train Simulator asset packs needed for this route are the 'UP 119 Loco Add-On' pack (for some very minor assets and the roundhouse, so this is optional), and the 'European Loco and Asset Pack.'

If you enjoy this route, please give it a 'thumbs up' rating and feel free to comment about what you liked! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this route, please do not hesitate to contact Daniel O'Hearn (Drangus). If you are also a scenario builder and would like to make a scenario for this route, please feel free to do so.

Hi all! I've made a new and improved second edition of this route. I have fixed many of the signalling issues by replacing the faulty 'Riviera Line in the 50s' GWR signals with the more reliable 'Falmouth Branch Route' GWR signals. I have also added several portals. Both of these additions should make scenario creation much easier. You can find the new version of the route here: https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1594939815
New scenarios for said route coming soon!

Maybe I'd ought to switch to the Weardale and Teesdale signals.

I'm building a fictional British mainline route in the 1950s-60s, in a as of yet undecided location with branch lines and a narrow gauge railway too. Quite an ambitious project, I think. No clue how long it'll take me or if I'll even finish it!

Hey Albino Pigeon! Thanks for asking. To be perfectly honest, my E-K route signals have been very problematic - so much to the point where I am considering resignalling this entire route with either the Falmouth signals or the wooden or lattice steam era signals. People have been running into so many problems in scenarios with these signals, even though I have set them up correctly.

If I may ask, what route are you building?

Hey Drangus, I'm building a route of my own and I'm using the signals from the E-K route like you have but I can't seem to get them to work properly. There's a thread about it on the main discussions page I put up but nobody's responded to it as of yet. Can you help at all?

Love the route, by the way. Very well detailed

Hi there Alex! I am actually from the USA as well. I just really like the history of Britain's complex railway systems of the past - specifically the Great Western Railway. There is so much GWR DLC out there that I felt I had to make another route for them, as Falmouth and Riviera are the only ones. I would be happy to make more portals for you, but unfortunately, the route is already published and has been finalized. Steam and Train Sim will not let me make changes any longer. The signalling is very good though. For reason, the route is routing trains through the goods shed at Prescombe instead of down the main branch line, so you will have to route the trains via "Prescombe Down Main." Other than that, I have had to problem making trains meet up on the route, and pay close attention to and am constantly changing my time table while scenario building. Thank you for playing and for the 'thumbs up!'

Hi Scouser888! Thank you for playing! As I mention in the section about DLC in the description above, the 'UP 119 Loco Add-On' is only for the old roundhouse near Braxton as well as for some other minor assets. I guess you can say that it's optional. Thanks for checking out my route though!

Thanks for playing, steve_u697! A tank engine local goods scenario is coming soon. I hope you have the 45XX Small Prairie!
