Description
Works with version 2.3, includes English, French, German and Russian localisation.

About this mod
This is the start on Mars version of the Sol System Expanded mod. Earth is nuked here, and the starting planet is Mars.

This is also a 25 tile Mars patch if you want to start on a much bigger Mars (default size is 13), and a 25 tile Earth patch for a slightly larger Earth.

Four options for starting systems are added by this mod:

Sol System Expanded (Mars)
This is the default version of Sol System Expanded with only Titania, Pluto, Charon, Eris and the Kuiper Belt added.
  • dwarf planets: Pluto, Eris
  • moons: Titania (Uranus), Charon (Pluto)

Sol System Expanded (Mars, Extra moons and TNOs)
Sol System Expanded with extra moons and trans-Neptunian objects. This includes all known objects from our solar system which have a diameter of at least 1000km.
  • dwarf planets: Pluto, Makemake, Haumea, Quaoar, Eris, 2007 OR10, Sedna
  • Saturn moons: Enceladus, Tethys, Dione, Rhea, Iapetus
  • Uranus moons: Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon
  • Pluto moon: Charon

Sol System Expanded (Mars, Planet Nine)
Sol System Expanded with the hypothetical Planet Nine.
  • planet: Planet Nine
  • dwarf planets: Pluto, Eris
  • moons: Titania (Uranus), Charon (Pluto)

Sol System Expanded (Mars, Extra moons and TNOs, Planet Nine)
Sol System Expanded with extra moons, trans-Neptunian objects and the hypothetical Planet Nine. This includes all known objects from our solar system which have a diameter of at least 1000km.
  • planet: Planet Nine
  • dwarf planets: Pluto, Makemake, Haumea, Quaoar, Eris, 2007 OR10, Sedna
  • Saturn moons: Enceladus, Tethys, Dione, Rhea, Iapetus
  • Uranus moons: Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon
  • Pluto moon: Charon

How to use
You need to edit your starting race before starting a new game, and set your starting solar system as one of the new options for this to take effect.

Localisation
The following languages are supported: English, French, German and Russian. None of these is my native language, so feel free to report any grammar errors. New translations for other languages are also always welcome.
Special thanks to zubr3 for providing the Russian translation and MILES TEG for the initial French translation.

Compatibility
This mod does no longer override the vanilla Sol System, so prescripted_species_systems.txt is not affected. Most mods shouldn't really conflict with this mod, but the ones that make specific changes to the Sol System itself will likely have their own version of the Sol System, and these will not be forwarded to the Sol System variants of this mod. In other words, it's either the version of this mod or the one of the other mod, unless you combine them in your own custom Sol System file.

This mod is compatible with CGM: Planets Enhanced, no extra patch required.

will this receive an update at some point? :D

I tried to use the real sol textures (and the patch) but Mars' texture changed to a desert planet and Earth changed back, even though it was still a tomb world and Mars was continental. Any fix?

Any idea what code string I can insert to add an additional colony on start? I'm trying to start with a colony already on Mars with Earth as the capital. I can't figure out if it's a global modifier or what that I would need to add to Mars.

@BlazingRoman: They can be active both at once. However, they will be viewed as different starting systems by the game, which means you'll have to choose between Earth or Mars as starting planet, you won't have both.

can this and the main mod be active at the same time, or just one?

Could you add a version that includes all the Sol Sector stars around it like in Real Space?

Cool mod, i'm using this to start on Mars with a post-apoc trait, lots of potential for cool roleplaying.

I haven't seen it used in any of the updated vanilla solar system initializers. The empire placement is determined by one of the starting options. Game Details > Empire Placement > Clusters instead of Random, should not place it at the edge of the galaxy afaik.
