[DeN]Aliens and Predator Universe Name Generator

*NEW* Planetary Diversity compatibility embedded
Learning Stellaris to count!

This is my first mod, the first in a series intended to become a total conversion for the combination of several scifi-universes. It is intended to give the randomly generated maps in Stellaris the feel of the Aliens and Predator universes. It will rename all astral bodies in a universe with numbered but meaningful (not-random) names.

Mod Effects:
  1. Stars (about  80%) are dynamically named depending on system contents, visible in the numbered postfix (A-524, Sol-784, etc...)
  2. Planets, asteroids and moons are dynamically named depending on planet size and properties (LV-426, ROI-605, M-TO-102, etc...)
  3. Stars that are not dynamically named get their name from the random list to which a large (3000+) AvP flavoured (my opinion, shoot me) list is added.
  4. Nebulae and Black Holes take their names from a seperate AvP list

Stars
ex:Sevastopol-524 or G-524
  • Stars will only get a full name (random from avp universe list) if they contain habitable planets or are of a special star class. (BH, Neutron, Pulsar)
  • Stars in non-habitable systems and normal stars will get a prefix depending on their star class (ABFGKM)( A-684, G-730, etc... )
  • Empire spawned home systems unaffected (Earth = Earth, Mars = Mars etc...)
  • Every star, random or spawned, will get a 3 or 4 number postfix, where the first number = number of planets in the system (can be 10+!), the second number = the number of moons and the third number = the total number of asteroids

Planets, Asteroids and Moons:
ex: CO-514, JO-R-X-221, LV-426, AR-108
Planets and Moons and asteroids will get a set of letters as prefix indicating the planet type :
  • DRY planets
    • Desert planets get DE
    • Arid planet gets AR
    • Savannah planets get SA
  • WET planets
    • Tropical planets get TR
    • Continental planets get CO
    • Ocean planets get OC
  • COLD planets
    • Tundra planets get TU
    • Arctic planets get AC
    • Alpine planets get AL
  • SPECIAL planets
    • Gas Giants gets JO
    • Molten planets get MO
    • Barren planets get LV
    • Barren Cold planets get LC
    • Toxic planets get TO
    • Frozen planets get FR
    • Gaia planets get GA
    • Nuked planets get NU
    • Ai planets get AI
    • Infested planets get IN
    • Shielded and Shrouded planets get SH
    • Broken planets get BR
  • MOONS
    • get the extra prefix M
  • RINGED planets
    • get the extra prefix R
  • MODIFIERS
    • if a planet has a special modifier it gets the extra prefix X
  • ASTEROID
    • get the prefix ROI
  • PLANETARY DIVERSITY MOD PLANETS
    • Cascadian planets get CA
    • Atoll planets get OL
    • Katpana planets get KA
    • Geothermal planets get GT
    • Glacial planets get GL
    • Atacama planets get AT
    • Tepui planets get TP
    • Mangrove planets get MA
    • Mesa planets get MS
    • Oasis planets get OA
    • Dune planets get DU
    • Steppe planets get ST
    • Crag planets get CR
    • Swamp planets get SW
    • Methane planets get TH
    • Crystal planets get CY
    • Ammonia planets get AM
    • Floating planets get FL
    • Tidally locked planets get TL
    • Hothouse planets get HH
    • Mediterranean planets get ME
    • Forest planets get FO
    • Boreal planets get BO
    • Plains planets get PL
    • Irradiated planets get IR
    • Antarctic planets get AN
    • Mycelium planets get MY
    • Graveyard planets get GR
Planets and asteroids will get a numbered postfix depending on the orbit from the star and the size:
  • planet or asteroid in second orbit start their postfix with the number 2, third orbit 3 etc....
  • the last two numbers reflect the size of the planet or asteroid, so a size 15 planet in second orbit would get the postfix -215
note that the actual name LV-426 is thus not possible to generate on habitable worlds

Compatibility:
  • NOT IRONMAN COMPATIBLE (checksum violated)
  • Embedded compatibility with the Planetary diversity mod
  • Does not replace any game files to improve compatibility with other mods
  • The renaming happens at game start with the event name zzz_asl_bdycntrename.1, so this event *should* be the last one to run
  • NOT COMPATIBLE WITH mods that change the list of standard star or planetclasses, I am aware of some nice beauty mods out there like REAL-STARS etc, maybe a compatibility patch will be created at a later date but the 2.1.* version of the game will add binary and trinary stars, and some more star types, so I'll see when that hits if I can adapt this mod.
  • Game version Stellaris 2.0.*

Thank you for trying my mod!

It seems that I'll need a complete rewrite of this mod if I want to make it work with Niven and later updates. The binary and trinary stars are the problem here. Ill try and work around it somehow, but cant make any promises.

Ah I understand. Personally, I love this mod. Brings order to chaos and weird names lol. Helps with my ocd and such!

It isn't. Though the way the generator was built for the star renaming requires a total rewrite because of the way binary and trinary stars are handled now. It's a daunting task. Ill get to it eventually, RL has a way of nibbig at the available time though.

Looking forwards to the update. Hope this is not dead

Currently working for a compatibility update for Niven, meanwhile the game will load but binay and trinary star system naming schemes will turn wonky
