Zombies of Dawn

Description
Version 1.2
A Survival Horror Adventure

The premise behind this story is a classic zombie apocalypse. If you are bitten or scratched by a zombie, then you get infected and later become a zombie. Zombies take extra damage from fire and critical hits, because you've gotta shoot 'em in the head.

While I have attempted to allow for main characters of any class, melee characters are at great risk for death. All it takes is one hit, and you're dead.

Eventually riggers will have trouble because drones are loud. I haven't written this into the coding yet, for this part I of III.

I have not figured out the Matrix system yet, so deckers are at a disadvantage. They can still own a deck, mark targets, and hack, but there's no matrix combat.

There is no cyberware, yet.

Other issues I haven't figured out yet

-Being bitten by a zombie sometimes causes greatly increased APs and invincibility instead of infection

-I have yet to attempt carrying over story variables into part II

-Part II isn't written yet. I'm conflicted whether to use the Hong Kong editor instead from this point into the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately not launching in 2021. The author's explanations below explain it requires a previous version of this title, rolled back several years.

I don't remember exactly what I had tried before. It should still be in the code somewhere, so I'll see it. Detain looks unfamiliar, so I will definitely try that one. Thank you for this.

Regarding those players unable to operate this story, I know now what I have to do. It will take some additional work, but I must convert all of this through the Director's Cut editor. I had been avoiding this option, but I think I'll have to accept it nonetheless. No promises on any deadlines.

Unrelated, I hope I can release a story in Hong Kong this year. That story is a total mess. I don't have the 3D actors I really need, which places a heavy demand upon the player's imagination. But I plan to put something together anyway.

It's pretty easy... Add a trigger that looks like this...

When:
Actor leaves camera region (matrix)

If :
All actors on team shadowrunner are outside region (matrix)

Do:
Detain all actors in region (matrix) into manual detainment

You'll need an opposite trigger to reenable the IC, but that's the simplest way.

I'm weighing the pros and cons. HK or not HK? Right now, missing dependencies are exactly the problem. I'm running the base game with the Dragonfall expansion, before it became the director's cut. I've been tackling this puzzle with a close friend who began with the director's cut and cannot run any of my content. We have tried transferring files and creating content-only DLCs, but we haven't solved the issue yet. To transfer this story to HK would allow some others to experience it, while excluding those who have not downloaded HK. Maybe it's worth it to finish it here, then convert the final draft to HK.

My initial obstacle with the matrix is that ICE is not deactivating when the decker jacks out. I have a separate camera region in a different dimension, but the AI is just being particular. I have to test it more.

That usually means you're missing a dependency.

In this case, all that's listed is the returns base game, with the original Dragonfall expansion... (Before it became directors cut)

I have no idea if other dependencies just aren't listed though.

anyone else get this and it simply doesn't run? start new game, and import character or new character, it just goes back to the main menu?

If your next chapter isn't in THIS workshop, you won't be able to pull variables. Personally, if you want to.go.the HK route, I'd say port this mod into HK, and continue it in the same file.

Matrix here is pretty simple, you need a scene dimension, decker jackpoint and a matrix spawn point. And your decker needs a cyberdeck in inventory, and an installed datajack.
