Description
The Grumman F6F Hellcat is an American carrier-based fighter aircraft of World War II. Designed to replace the earlier F4F Wildcat and to counter the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero, it was the United States Navy's dominant fighter in the second half of the Pacific War. The Hellcat competed with the faster Vought F4U Corsair for that role and prevailed, as the Corsair had significant issues with carrier landings. The Corsair instead was primarily deployed to great effect in land-based use by the U.S. Marine Corps. -Excerpt from Wikipedia. This is the most realistic plane i have ever made, i was planning to implement buffeting effects but unfortunately, I didn't. I will be making more planes after this, i went on a 6 month break but i am back in the game now, so be on the lookout for more of my aircraft. I plan to work on the Savoia S.21 Next.

This plane is armed with 6 .50cal machine guns that are mounted on the wings, they each have 400 rounds of ammo. That gives you about 25 seconds of sustained fire, so you don’t have to be that careful with shot placement. It has a fully functioning cockpit with gauges, throttle, rudder pedals, and a flight stick with a working trigger. It also includes a custom seat for the pilot. The guide to read the gauges is in the images. It also has 3 stage flaps, flaps fully retracted, flaps half retracted and flaps out. The plane features scale flight performance provided with help from Mr.-Cynical. The top speed at level flight on this aircraft is 380mph which is the same as the real one. It has a slower stall speed which is around 40mph while the real one is 80mph. Do not exceed 490 mph in a dive, the wings will break off. It has fully retractable landing gear and foldable wings for more storage room. The engine(s) has 2200 HP which is the same as the real one, i also modeled the engine with builder-tools. I also implemented a dogfight mode which allows full range of motion for control surfaces in the plane. While it has increased maneuverability, you bleed speed very quickly so i would recommend only using the dogfight mode with a gamepad or if you are an experienced pilot.

Startup Procedure: Press X to activate the engine then hold R to apply brakes. As you hold R, apply throttle till you have maximum engine RPM. Flaps don’t need to be out on takeoff. Release brakes when you want to take off. Close the canopy with C. When turning while accelerating, coordinate roll with yaw to stay on course, use small adjustments of the rudder to stay on your takeoff path.

If you build scale aviation like this, feel free to join the group that me and a couple people created: http://steamproxy.com/groups/hbsag

Special thanks to everyone on the multiplayer servers and especially Mr.-Cynical for his help and critique on the plane, thanks so much dude :).

Build Time: ~75-100 Hours

@Ropomopo8 Hey man, i really appreciate the love! This is one of my favorites too :)
I made this back in the old builder with adjustable wings, if you're trying to make an aircraft with adjustable wings, you're going to need to have to stack them a couple times for them to feel right. I originally plated the wings first to get the right profile with the control surfaces and then I added the adjustable wings inside the plates. Tuning is everything in this game so it does take a while to get things right, but it will feel right eventually! If you didn't know, there's a new workshop type thing called the warehouse where all the new builder vehicles and mods are stored. Do check it out, everything on there smokes anything i made in the old builder out of the water! Warehouse! [warehouse.homebrewgame.com]

This is one of my favourite builds I have seen so far. It is really well made and fun to fly.

I just wanted to ask but what wings did you use to make it? Did you use one of the preset wings from the props or did you use some custom design like placing certain blocks or using the adjustable wing. I'm not yet very proficient with the physics of the game so I don't know if you can have a wing shape to add lift or do you use wing parts to add lift.

Just the limitations of the game, unfortunately

Looks great both from the in and outside! My only complaint would be the flaps not doing what they supposed to do (thx HB physics!) and the gauges being visually great but functionally non-ideal ;)
