In the aftermath of the Belt War, a new light, fast cruiser was needed to replace the aging Odin-class light cruisers. While the Odin-class was more heavily armed, it lacked endurance and was unable to preform long-term patrols. The Gorgon class fixes this with a full manufacturing capability, and replacing one of the fighter slots with a drone support bay.

What the Gorgon lacks in armament over it's predecessor, it makes up for in speed and agility. The new upgraded ion engines give it 1/3 more acceleration, with the ability to outrun any ship that can outgun it. The additional Gyroscopes also allow it to change direction a lot quicker than most ships of it's class, allowing it to bring it's guns to bare much more quickly.

The Usual crew compliment of a Gorgan is twelve. Four are on watch as Pilot/Commander, Tactical/Weapons, Ship Systems/Engineering, And Operations. The other eight are split between two watches, with four off duty and four on a sleep cycle. Due to the limited size for crew berthing, hot bunking is required.
