//Requirements//
To ensure that the map functions properly, make sure you have the following games are installed and mounted:
  • Half-Life 2
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 1
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 2

If you need them mounted here is how to do it:
  1. Start Gmod
  2. Click the game controller in the corner of the menu
  3. Make sure Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, and Half-Life 2 are check marked.

//Narrative//
Following Earth's defeat, Dr. Breen made City 17 the capitol of his new worldwide empire. Due to this significance, and Breen focusing more on the planet as a whole, the city was divided into multiple districts composed of several precincts, each ruled by an Overseer. Breen does not intervene in their affairs. Thus, these Overseers have incredible power over these small areas.

Set several years before Gordon Freeman's uprising, this map allows you to live in the Trainstation district. The Overseer's HQ for this district is located in an old 19th century trainstation which acts as one of many gateways into the city proper.

//Gameplay//
  • A complete Trainstation with trainyard. Acts as the spawn point and the Combine HQ for the district. It also has a functioning vending machine.
  • Two apartment buildings (including the infamous raid apartment from HL2) with 8 livable and 1 abandoned apartment between the two. Each apartment is left mostly blank, allowing some customization. The courtyard for the raid apartment features a functioning tic-tac-toe game (The physgun can help move and freeze each piece).
  • The rooftop pathway that connects the raid apartment with Kleiner's lab and attached industrial building.
  • 4 enterable industrial buildings (including Kleiner's lab's building) for potential rebel use. Kleiner's building has a working elevator that can travel between three floors.
  • 8 Commercial spaces of varying size and potential function (two in the Terminal Plaza, one in the Souvenir Store, four along the street that the Raid Apartment building sits on, and one in a building between the industrial section and the Raid apartment courtyard).
  • 4 offices of varying size, all located in the same building.
  • A hotel with two hotel rooms and a small manager's office.
  • Combine HQ includes a Central Command and the Overseer's office. The central command features: Two placeable turrets, two ammo boxes, two district wide reminders, a trainstation wide alarm, two buttons that individually notifies each apartment of an inspection (button 1 tells the raid apartment, button 2 for the other), a button that can seal the station's main entrance, a button to open the hall to the Overseer's office, and an alert to enact unrest procedures. The Overseer's office features a district wide alarm and authorization for soldiers to kill at their own discretion.
  • A very large and detailed 3D skybox
  • AI nodegraphs (both ground and air). The Combine walkway (in the plaza in front of the trainstation) and the two Combine sniper towers are solid and are great placement points for AIs. Note: There are Combine cameras on the map. Meaning Resistance bots will target them (citizen bots will run away from them), sometimes over other, deadlier Combine units. They can be destroyed and it will refocus them.

Any windows shattered, boxes broken or cameras destroyed can be fixed by: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
This is my first Gmod map, and I wanted to go big with it. So not only is this map large, but it also contains some of my first forays into scripting. As I really enjoyed the look and feel of City 17, I decided this would be what I would do for the map. I took several of the City 17 maps that came with the SDK and merged them together, with a few other maps not that were connected to them. I tried to stick as close to Valve's original maps as possible adding RP features and other decorative elements.

There were a few issues with scaling and maps seemingly not connecting. This can be seen with the strange sizing of the Half Life 2 apartments, the not quite right layout of the road in the industrial section and strange road layout at the t-junction. At the moment I am not too sure how much more I could potentially add to the level without using 3D modeling software. So while suggestions are always welcome for what to add and such, I'm not too sure I have the skills yet to implement them in an already complex map.

A total of over 7000 brushes were used. This combines in some form or fashion elements from 10 different HL2 maps: This includes d1_trainstation_01 through _06, d3_city17_02 through _04, and d1_canals_01.

I hope people will have fun with this map. There will hopefully be more Gmod maps releasing in the future.

Why it needs Half life 2 Episode 1 and 2 if is an Hl2 map?

Pretty sure the game you're talking about ADODSER is Half-Life 2, which is what this map is based around.
