I wrapped it in a giftapult, but then I changed my mind.
I clicked the option of unwrap, to see what I would find.

The item was returned to me, but then I saw the cost.
The item was returned to me, the giftapult was lost.

I thought this news was only bad, a classic Gaben Grift,
but looking closely at the thing, it says it is my gift!

Will update the guide, but I just tried this on a strange with 7500 kills, and it reset the counter to 0.

I had the same question ... I believe I had a friend try it and he said it didn't reset, but I'm less confident about this than I want to be, sorry.

As a friend has pointed out, this pretty much eliminates the value of Gift Wrap now. Just buy a $0.03 giftapult, wrap & unwrap, and trade the newly labeled item to the friend.
